Sea Roc

Sea Rocs are the largest of the Roc species, they use their colossal wings to glide high above the ocean.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Compared to its smaller cousins the Sea Rocs wingspan is on average 160ft(48.76m).

Genetics and Reproduction

After their Hundredth year, and every twenty years, they look to reproduce. After fertilization has happened it takes a month for the eggs to be laid.

Growth Rate & Stages

After the egg has hatched it can take up to ten months for the Sea Roc Chick to learn to fly. After that they are abadoned by the parents, they stay near their nest for up to five years as they grow the strength of their wings.

The Sea Roc thrive in all of the Oceans of Gallifrey.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Sea Rocs can go weeks between meals only needing 1000-2000lbs(453.59-907.18kg) of food to last 2-3 weeks becuase of their ability to glide.

Biological Cycle

Once they get into the last forty years of their life the males tend to start to lose the vibrancy of their feathers becuase of that they tend not to be as lucky to find mates.

Behaviour

They try to avoid other Sea Rocs other than during the Mating Years.

Social Structure

They are generally a solitary species except when it comes the the spawning years in which you may find as many as ten in a close proximity.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Sea Rocs poop is a prized fertilizer for any lucky enough to get some. Unfortunately the most sought after part of the species is their feathers for decorational use and for use in many potions and magic items. This has lead to their near extinction many times through out the ages.

Facial characteristics

They have a more pronouced beak that they use to "spear" their prey.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Sea Roc have a almost magical sense of sight being able to see pods of whales 400ft(121.92m) under the water from 30,000ft(9.14KM) in the air.

Courtship Ideals

Females generally go for the most vibrantly colored of the Males.

Relationship Ideals

Once the females of the group lay their eggs they and the males of the gathering take turns sitting on the eggs while the others go out to hunt. This lasts until the babies are able to fly.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The feathers on the underside of the Sea Roc are white to a light blue in color. While on the topside curiously the feathers are of a darker blue generally near the same color of the ocean that they inhabit.
