"Focus on the touch." whispered Arwin softly and gently as he brought a little more force to his hand, which he pressed against Krobat's chest. It was level with his heart and Krobat struggled to keep his heartbeat steady and slow as the man continued in his deep, growling voice, "Some of us smell energies, some of us see them like thin swaths, some of us hear them, you, however, feel them, just like my skin on yours."
Though his heart nearly leapt out of his chest, Krobat tried to direct his thoughts to the warm palm on his own skin. With each passing moment, the feeling grew more intense, while simultaneously merging with everything else and melting into his thoughts. All of Krobat's consciousness gathered in his chest until his breath, his heartbeat, the shallow trembling of his hands had completely passed. Minutes had to pass, during which he felt the warmth, until he heard the humming clearing of Arwin's throat.
Slowly, he opened his eyes and looked up at the man who had moved a good five meters away from him, his hand still outstretched, a wide grin on his narrow face.
"Not bad at all, but I helped.", Arwin praised him, "now let's try something that won't consciously press the energy onto your skin." He lowered his hand and jerkily the feeling of warmth faded.
The concept of energy in the world of Terria describes the concept of invisible forces that exist in interaction with matter. The cooperation between physical matter and energy creates what can basically be described as existence. The energy and its different concepts are such a far-reaching and versatile topic that several scientific disciplines have developed from it since humans discovered and could prove it. Quite a number of living beings can consciously control and manipulate these energies that surround them, for which a particular brain region, the tymidian, is responsible. It ties the sensing of energies to one of the other senses and connects this sensing to the body's neural pathways to gain control of certain forms of energy from them. Some of these energies are possible through consciously triggered mutations of the tymidian, while still others are not replicable and may or may not be mastered at birth.
Usually all types of energies are invisible, but should they be manipulated, some of them become visible even to ordinary mortals if the user of the abilities so desires. Such manipulators of energies are commonly referred to as enablers, with their subtypes having additional titles.
