The Witch of the Black Veil

The Witch of the Black Veil is shrouded in mystery. Her followers, to most people's knowledge, never met her as she solely spoke to people in the form of an apparition shrouded in a black veil. What is known is that she was spellcaster of immense power and forged a kingdom in the frigid tundra of the North.   Legend says she was the daughter of Emperor Pertinax of Cyrillia who was forced to marry an older, abusive, and powerful Cyrillian nobleman to maintain his power. She fled her fate to the north and disguised herself as a man with her rudimentary knowledge of magic at that time. From there she joined the Imperial Legions and fought Drennish tribes in the North. Pertinax's reign after his daughter Alexis's disappearance lasted only a month, six months in total.   One day the soldiers whom Alexis fought with bravely on multiple occasions found out she was actually a woman. They raped her then left her for dead. On death's door she prayed to anything who would listen to survive, and in that moment a raven flew to her. Alexis swore to the raven eternal service in exchange for the destruction of Cyrillia. The Raven accepted and gave her strength.   This, according to the witches of the north was the first familiar. From here the legend diverts into many paths, however, they all end at the same point. The Witch of the Black Veil one day emerged from the forests and united the Novish tribes. From here they waged war on the Empire of Cyrillia until one day the witch met Garl Vinland and brokered a peace.   The Witch is said to have sired a race of women known as the Changelings who typically live in the frigid wastes of the North and to this day rule over the Kingdom of Novgor. Her date of birth and Death are unknown. It was hundreds of years before anyone had assumed she had died in the historical record, but even then there is no actual proof of her death and the Princesses of Novgor (official title of the ruler of Novgor) remain silent on the matter.   During her time the witch was said to have taken one lover, King Garl Vinland I and in Novgor legends are whispered that Garl is the father of Changelings. For this reason the Kingdom of Vinland and Novgor have historically had very good relations.   The Witch of the Black Veil's followers tend to use Primal, Occult, and Arcane spells.
