Buradaku

And so the sage Torvall took us to the site of Sangurim's tower. I was about to question the old sage, for there was little around us save shrubs and trees. The sage anticipated my inquiry, expounding greatly on the magical devices at work in the tower that caused the tower to be entirely invisible to the ordinary man. Suddenly, the sage snapped his fingers and before us stood the ruin of Buradaku - for it had deteriorated greatly since Sangurium's death
Buradaku; or, An Exploration of the Tower of Blood
Buradaku is the famed tower of the sorcerer Sangurim. The tower's is well known for its use of dimensional magic. The exterior of the tower is merely a gate to an endless expanse of rooms and laboratories, located in an entirely separate plane of reality.

Architecture

Buradaku was built to be an opulent, imposing structure - a physical manifestation of Sangurim's social status. The tower is elaborately built from stone, with buttresses along the circular tower. It stretches high into the sky, expanding out again at the top of the tower. Along the tower are runic inscriptions, providing the various enchantments that give the tower its unique properties.   The exterior of the tower is, however, a facade for the interior. The interior of the tower is laid out as a mansion: a grand dining hall, several extravagant bedchambers, and a large laboratory - amongst a myriad of other rooms.

History

The tower was built in 1124 by the sorcerer Sangurim of Morray. Built at the height of Lord Sangurim's fame and talent, the mage's tower was a work of art. Sorcerers from across the world marvelled at the level of innovation and ingenuity displayed in the construction of this tower.   The tower had everything a sorcerer could want: Libraries that stretched for miles, containing tomes on every subject imaginable; laboratories bursting with specialised equipment, chemicals and vials. The tower was originally on the outskirts of the Morray, allowing Sangurim the opportunity to entertain the high society at his illustrious balls and banquets.   Sangurim lived in the tower for years, hosting his famed banquets and advancing the field of sorcery. It was within this tower that he crafted many new spells, some of which are used widely today by all sorcerers. But in 1135, the sorcerer Sangurim received some bad news. He had contracted an incurable disease that would eventually kill him. Sangurim visited every sorcerer he knew, spent weeks alone within his tower searching for a cure. He found nothing that would save him.   Still hosting his celebrated banquets, Sangurim began to quietly abduct his guests for sickening experiments. Attempting to extract the essence of life in a form that would cure him, Sangurim failed time and time again - leaving desecrated and mutilated bodies behind.   In 1140, Sangurim hosted one last banquet. The noblemen arrived, but as the doors quickly shut behind them, they realised there was no food on the tables. Sangurim extracted the life energy of over a hundred of his partygoers. He combined the essence with a vial of vampire blood, and drank the concoction. It was said that his scream could be heard all across Morray, and that an unexpected lunar eclipse occurred - turning the walls of the tower blood red.   Sangurim had become an immortal vampire, but the concoction had turned him insane. He teleported his tower to the remote island of Anshi, carrying out bizarre and macabre experiments for years. Eventually, the elven sage Torvall (who was Sangurim's former teacher) was summoned to kill the vampire-sorcerer. Torvall killed Sangurim painlessly, holding his former pupil in his arms.   Torvall assumed ownership of the tower. He sealed off the entrance to and turned it invisible. He permits very few people to enter the tower, only occasionally giving tours to academic researchers.
