Clockwork Church

The Clockwork Church was originally a network of inventors who traded secrets and knowledge. However, with the Mechanic’s guidance, many elements were put into a moral practice. Though far less restrictive than most churches, the Clockwork retains its loose network.
After the Empire conquered the hills and executed the king, the Clockwork Church was made illegal. Though it still has members, it has become exceedingly small… with fewer than 500 members.

Structure

Advancement is based off skill and skill alone. Gnomes are not political; they have more important things on their mind. Rank is denoted by a small gear or even an innocuous watch. Those of master rank can repair automatons, some say they can build new ones. The Bondsmiths power is largely unknown, but it is rumored even the dwarves would like to learn from them.

Divine Origins

In the early days of the Empire, a vast majority of the gnomes and halfings had a growing desire to explore the new lands, however, once they crossed the glittering river, they found a place they could call home. With rich deposits and fertile fields, they had everything they could have wanted in the Ilvin Hills.
The Gnomes took to the hills, while the halflings took the fields. First Gnome King produced thousands of automatons to aid the new kingdom. He created new innovations to aid in agriculture, city planning, and travel; this lead to a golden age for the Ilvin people. Upon his death, the King ascended and became The Mechanic, so he could forever inspire the gnomes.

Tenets of Faith

The Clockwork Church has no interest in power or gold. They are interested in creating and inventing. They wish only to invent. Some believe they can use the inventions to buy off the Nemisians to allow the gnomes to leave; others want to use their discoveries to create robot soldiers to throw the Nemisians out; still others want to create for the sake of creating, living in ignorance about what is going on.

Ethics

Under the rule of the Empire, secrecy has become the most important aspect. They cannot reveal what they do not know, and as their order is illegal, it keeps more and more of them alive. In the eyes of the Bondsmith, all gnomes are part of the church, but they simply cannot practice.

Granted Divine Powers

The few clerics of the Clockwork Church have access to the Knowledge and Forge domains.
