Order of the Bright Sky

The Order of the Bright Sky is a meditative order of those who seek tranquility and better understanding of the future.
To outsiders, all worshippers are drug-addled, monks who gaze at the Sun with no intent on anything other than self-indulgence.
Perhaps, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Structure

The organization of the Order is very loose. Members are promoted based on their gift of prophecy. The leaders of the Order are known as Flamespeakers and are considered Holy. Though few attain this level of serenity, those who do are immortalized by the order.

Divine Origins

When the fires consumed the Old Capital, many onlookers claimed to have seen visions in the flames. This began a growing exploration of fire worship. This involved deep meditation near fires. The practice was almost immediately outlawed in the Final Empire, but the fire-worshippers delved deeper and deeper, until the Prophet Marius Wender heard a voice in the flames. Wender gathered his fellows and they dove in, and heard the same voice. The voice identified Themselves as the Great Flame, born of the Fires of Creation, Fire God in the Sun. The Great Flame revealed an impending attack on the fire worshippers; the Great Flame granted the gift of prophecy.
The Order practiced in secret, until finding their way to Pyrus, where they found common purpose with the Fire Elves.

Tenets of Faith

The Order’s primary tenet is Fate, the acceptance and knowing of one’s fate is a continuing journey. Those with the gift of prophecy are highly revered, those without the Gift, find other functions, such as serving in the Sun Soul Brotherhood. The Order believes there is a Great Purpose to life and all must play their part. However, individuals will attempt to usurp this. These individuals must be stopped. The clergy of the Great Flame are devoted to advancing the Great Purpose, though few even claim to know what that Purpose is.
In centuries past, the clergy of the Order have adopted a Code of Conduct, to allow the Great Purpose to continue, until they find their own.
Sincerity - do not lie, do not be insincere, do not be superficial. It sullies the soul to claim anything but truth.
Responsibility - do not be obsequious. We must claim ourselves and our decisions.
Frugality - do not be greedy. It is not ours to take.
Politeness - do not be rude, do not slander. It serves no one to insult or criticize.
Modesty - do not be boastful, do not be arrogant. We are as we are, no more, no less.
Loyalty - do not be unfaithful. Our word is all we truly possess.
Harmony - be on good terms with comrades. Whatever you do in this life, it isn't worth it, unless your friends are there to see it.
Tranquility - do not be overly concerned with events. It is not upon us to decide what is important and what is not. Only to enjoy what we experience.
Compassion - show concern for one another, be compassionate, with a strong sense of duty. Only the cruel care nothing for their fellow beings.
