Serpentfolk

The Serpentfolk (also known as Yuan-ti, "of Serpent blood") are a sinister and cunning race of snake-like humanoids known for their manipulation, dark rituals, and powerful magic. They were once humans but have been transformed through dark rituals and the worship of snake gods. Serpentfolk are divided into several castes based on their physical characteristics and the extent of their serpentine features.
Almost all Serpentfolk are descendants of the Serpentfolk Purebloods, known in their tongue as 'Conran Thuanchung' (Conran meaning Serpentfolk, and Thuanchung meaning Pureblood). The first of the Serpentfolk Purebloods were created by the Spirit Naga using fiendish sorcery. In turn, their progeny gave rise to more strains of Serpentfolk. These other Serpentfolk fall into categories of either humanoids or monstrosities. The known variants include the Halfbloods, or 'mailisons', who bear a closer resemblance to snakes than to humans; the Abominations, who are large, serpent-like creatures; and the Anathema, revered as the avatar of Serpentfolk divinity. Among all Serpentfolk, the Purebloods are recognized as natural leaders, with the exception of the Anathema, who is venerated as a divine Idol.
