Tulashantar
Many cities in the low grounds are empty but the Mainland Aarakocra still guard their borders, while living in high places. There are some towns and villages, populated by non-Aarakocra, they pay taxes and live their lives normally, while the birdmen guard the surrounding lands. There is still a lot of lands not in use and this makes the nation of Tulashantar a target for political intrigue and possibly war.
History
After the Fourth Age, The Calamity, the duchies of these lands crumbled or became deserted, allowing the Aarakocra to take over. Long ago, they lived their lives peacefully in the Kromrest Mountains. Away from any troubles. Over the centuries, things have changed. Many barbarians attacked the birdmen tribes and wars broke out over the generations. The flying folk lost mountain after mountain and they needed resources. Thus, when the Post-Calamity Era ended, they swooped down to the hills and valleys, announcing their rulership over the lands. Two centuries later, a kingdom formed called Tulashantar and their borders increased every generation. Their goal is to retake their old mountains but this issue became muddled after The Second Divergence. A lot of undead to the west, a dwarven kingdom willing to trade, a nation of barbarians to the east, growing ever so fast, while a war brewing in the south. The Aarakocra aren't known for their great political skills, so they are slowly becoming easy prey for those wanting to become grey eminences.
