Necromancy

When one travels through the farmlands surrounding cities, towns and villages, it common to see a Civil Service licensed necromancer leading a group of mindless undead in the task of plowing a field or some other mundane manual task. And when you retire to your local inn or home, don't be surprised if your neighbour is a Vampire, Wraith or even a Death Knight.

Teutonia is unique to its approach towards the practices of necromancy and undead creatures. Whilst these creatures and practices would get one killed in most nations, in Teutonia they are embraced as key parts of every day life. Sentient Undead, such as Vampires, Mummies, Wraiths and Death Knights, are treated like any other citizen, they can own a home, work a job, get married, go to church, etc. Meanwhile the arts of Necromancy and creating undead is common practice, with institutions dedicated to the education of necromancy being common in almost every city.

The practice of using mindless undead as a manual workforce is an old tradition in Teutonia, stretching back as far as the year 267. The use of undead as workforce means that many commoners that would be resigned to farming now have the time to pursue other careers.
