He does not exist in the genetic database of Tholaren Dome beyond one generation (himself), and if pressed, no one would remember growing up with him. Unusual, considering the closed nature of society within the Dome. He is a respected teacher, which makes him recognizable, and usually greeted with a smile. His students like his lessons, and the Insignia Council has honored him several times by choosing more of his students than others to high positions. Perhaps his background is unusual, but there's little reason for anyone to look at it more closely. Aleron's secret
What they don't know is that he doesn't come from this dome at all, but from a second one populated by a group that splintered off centuries ago, forming Serunen. They're determined to terraform the planet and make it habitable for humans. So far they've failed, as the technology they need only exists in Tholaren Dome.
So Aleron watches, waits, and prepares for the day when he has to betray every one of these people, his students included, to save the planet.

Motivation
He desperately wants his people to thrive, and survive. And by "his people," he used to mean the people of Serunen at the expense of all others. Now, however, after nearly two decades living in Tholaren, his drive is tainted by the fact that if he succeeds in his quest, some of these people (probably some of his very own students) will have to die.

He's extraordinarily charismatic. Unassuming, humble, and a dedicated teacher. He's appreciated, but not particularly noteworthy or considered to run in the highest circles. And yet, somehow, people still come to him for counsel. Somehow his advice usually makes it into law.
Somehow, he became the one to tutor the next bearer of the Arthenarian.
