Beer

Drinking culture in Valdon has quite a lot of affect on the people, and to stay warm during the very coldest of winters day people turn to alcoholic beverages, and luckily for the people of Valdon they have a pretty well established sortiment of local beers.   The most common beer for the population is the Ice Lager, a cold-fermented beer. The ingredients are fermented at a near-freezing temperature, and the outcome is a crisp and clean taste profile with a small hint of sweetness. Most of the people find this a very refreshing beer, and during the summer period it's being consumed the most.   For the people that like more taste, there's the Frostbitten Ale, which is rich and robust in taste and have a very deep, dark color. This ale has its malts and grains roasted along with notes of chocolate, coffee and a bit of smoke, which is a favorite during the winter since it is known to warm up the drinker.   The younger generation of beer drinkers have been more into the fruity tastes in Valdon. There was a brewer that was considered mad that came up with Glacial Pale Ale, which he took inspiration from the region around Valdon and came up with a beer with hints of citrus. He managed to get a farmer to grow him hops which had citrus infused into them, and then added some alpine herbs to get the tang of the pale ale.   There is the culturally strong Snowberry Wheat Beer, which came from a time when winter wouldn't leave Valdon for almost a whole year. It was during one of the worst winters where only the winter wheat was able to survive, and since they only had that as crops they made a beer out of it. Later it was added some berries to the wheat beer, which makes up for the current popular taste of tartness and berry-like sweet flavour. It's not for everyone but the people that like to remember the times when things were harder.   And then the most exclusive beer of Valdon, the Frostguard Reserve as it's been named. It's a beer that only The Frostguard knows how to brew and they sell it to the population of Valdon for a fairly hefty price, to help fund the Knights of the Everfrost. It's a beer with a taste of oak, vanilla and some hints of honey which is rare to find down in Valdon.
