Each Nation’s Unique Technology

One of the most important factors in determining the power of a nation is the nation's ability to wield congruence. Each of the great powers on the continent have expended tremendous resources to develop methods of harnessing the world’s power.

This struggle has at times resulted in some truly fantastic new technologies. Each great nation now has its own unique way of controlling congruence. Here are the most notable examples of this:

Vas’tek: The conquerors of the desert, the Vas'n has mastered the art of creating into an oasis. Many years ago they learned to mold fluid materials (air and water) and reshape their environment. They can move water to grow crops in the desert, or use the wind to bring a storm down on their enemies. Their great city of Wayat’ujan in constantly being created by a great core at the center of the city that was modified by the Vas’n adepts to convert the ambient congruence into the island of paradise.

Nashriam: The researchers of Nashriam have developed the means of farming vast swaths of land with only machines and a few workers running them. Plowing, seeding and harvesting is all handled by these great machines. They also have created several devices that ward off pests.

Alvania: The seagoing nation of Alvania has become adept at using congruence to generate wind power to power their ships. This is how the Alvanians have created the most powerful shipping empire on the continent. Many of the larger Alvanian ships are also equipped with congruence based defenses. Some are rumored to have a device that can conjure storms. Alvanian adepts use this wind-bending power against enemy mariners, and in rare circumstances can, with a group of adepts, generate a storm.

Karg: The smallest and youngest of the nations, Karg hasn’t had the time yet to establish any great congruence technology yet. One of their congruence users was able to develop a very useful little device for communicating across long distances, called comboards. These consist of large chalkboards where whatever is written on the “primary” one is reflected on all of the “secondary” boards. This is very useful for sending out communications to the whole population of an area or to military bases. There is at least one such board in each large city and every military outpost.

Curath: The Royal Guard of the Curath Emperor carries a unique weapon. It consists of a long narrow cylinder with a modified congruence core at one end. The device emits a burst of supercharged energy from the end away from the crystal which can knock a young Brown Beast to the ground. This weapon has several drawbacks, it is a one time use item and is close range, if the energy travels more than 15 feet it harmlessly dissipates. The weapon is very expensive, generally only one in 50 soldiers in the Royal Guard carry the weapon.

Caliharah: Most of the congruence based efforts of the Caliharah is focused on trained combatants in battlefield congruence, however a researcher operating out of the capital city has developed a new and powerful piece of technology. This researcher has developed the means to transform the environment of specific areas. This means that there can be wet rainforests in one part of a valley and arid desert in another (the process would affect about a 1,000 acre area). For a farm based society, the uses of this are unlimited. Suddenly it is possible to grow every type of crop imaginable inside of Caliharah. The process is slow and laborious, so far only a handful of zones have been successfully transformed

Garshalla: While the Garshalla may be the least technologically-advanced of the nations, they managed to piece together some unique ways of using congruence. These are passed down generation to generation. One of the more intriguing devices they’ve come up with is a standard that harnesses congruence and distributes it to Garshallian warriors near it. The standard is imbued with the rune of the tribe carrying it. Each different rune has a unique property that shapes the congruence and transfers a certain energy to the receiving warriors. For example, warriors near a standard with the rune of the Lord of the Soil will find that their strength has increased.

Kende: The Alium have lost almost all of the technology that got them to this planet, but they still carry some interesting pieces of technology. They have several gravity defying plates that can be used to move great loads. Unfortunately they only have a handful of these and they've lost the knowledge to build more. Sometimes they will loan one of these to the garshalla in exchange for favors.

Polyandrium: The Cryptum of Polyandrum have become known throughout the continent for their prosthetic limbs. They have developed quite the knack for repairing their partially decayed bodies. The artificial limbs are known to be the best on the continent. Wealthy persons often will obtain these limbs through back channels to avoid the social stigma.

Rowlem: The ever paranoid and deceitful Rowlem have focused a great deal of energy on controlling their borders. They have built a series of congruence imbued towers along their southern border. The towers emit a fog that envelops the land between them. It is impossible to enter or exit Rowlem without passing through the fog. The fog will minimally alert patrols that someone is crossing the fog, however there are ways to pass undetected if you know the trick. The fog can also be solidified to make passing impossible entirely. Doing this costs a massive amount of congruence and is normally only done to prevent invasion. Rowlem keeps a stock of congruence cores on hand for this purpose. If you're unlucky to be within the fog when it’s solidified, the pressure will almost certainly kill you instantly.
