List of Major Congruence Schools

Congruence users are a powerful resource and each major nation has devoted large amounts of resources to the training of their nation’s future congruence wielders. These schools are as unique and varied as the nations themselves. Some nations control their school with an iron fist, while others take the student’s needs into consideration, rather than only the nation’s.

Most Nations have their main congruence school in their Capital, but some, like Nashriam, have several schools throughout their borders.

When a child is found to have an aptitude for congruence they are normally discovered by the Guardian’s Guild, who will direct them to the school in their nation most suited to them. It is not unheard of for children from one nation to attend the congruence school of another but it is exceedingly rare.

Curath:

The congruence school of Curath is known as the Royal Academy of Congruence.

In Curath a huge emphasis is placed on bolstering their military. The Emperor has directed that a huge amount of funding and resources be moved towards this. The state run military congruence school there specializes in training Evokers who use artillerist attacks. Rarely does the Curath army use siege engines as they normally have scores of these Evokers at their disposal.

This school has a section for Alchemists who learn to build congruence-based weapons and devices for the military.

Graduates of this school go directly into Curath’s Royal Military.

Nashriam:

The congruence schools of Nashriam are as varied as the different types of Sciences that are studied there.

Some have emerged as the predominant authorities on congruence in the area. Namely, the Healing School attached to the Vellidan stands apart from the rest. Students from all over the country come here to study under the master Alchemists at the healing center.

In Rikjosom there is another prominent school, named simply the University of Rikjosom, that also teaches Alchemists but with a different focus. This school concentrates on building with congruence. Great architects and engineers are trained here.

Vas’tek:

The Terremancers of the Vas’Tek are shrouded in mystery. It is known that a school of sorts exists in their capital city of Wayat’ujan and that young citizens that show an aptitude in congruence are taken there for training. Exactly what that training consists of is unknown to outsiders.

Caliharah:

The primary center of congruence knowledge is known as School Eos in Greenhome.

Like Curath, the Caliharah congruence doctrine is largely concerned with warfare but with a different focus. Unlike Curath, Caliharah focuses on smaller scale effects. Often they train creationists or illusionists who use buffing and debuffing abilities to effect the battlefield. The school does train congruence users of all types and has a focus on adapting congruence techniques to the students skills rather than the other way around. This can lead to wildly different abilities in its graduates.

The school is funded by the state but is run by a board of the most respected congruence users in Caliharah.

Rowlem:

Like in Curath, the congruence academy in Rowlem, somewhat ironically called the Hall of the Choosen, is run by the state. The students there are heavily indoctrinated in the Faith and follow a strict regimen of classes. The main focus is training soldiers who will maintain the congruence-powered defensive border control. They also have a healthy number of Hex Adepts in training.

It is rumored that the very best congruence students in Rowlem receive training as renamers, however reports on this are hard to come by with any witnesses changing their stories for no apparent reason. The existence of state controlled renamers may explain why it is so hard to gain accurate intelligence on Rowlem’s interior.

Karg:

Unfortunately the young nation of Karg has very little in the way of congruence training. There are many congruence users there who teach what they can to congruence adept children that they met, but no formal school has been established there as of yet. I believe that there is a seer who has taken up residence in the capital there and has been teaching what she can to congruence-adept children.

Garshalla:

The majority of Garshalla’s knowledge of congruence is passed from master to apprentice. Each tribe generally has at least one congruence user (medicine man) who will take on any children with a gift in congruence as an apprentice. To be selected as an apprentice is considered a great honor. The types of congruence taught varies based on the tribe.

The war chief of Garshalla is himself a powerful congruence user. He sends members of his personal honor guard throughout Garshalla in search of particularly gifted congruence-using children. When one is found they are taken to be personally trained by the War Chief. Once this training is complete the student joins the Chief’s Honor guard to assist the Chief in protecting Garshalla. One of these Honor Guard members is selected by the War Chief to hold the title of Master of Honor and is so named to inherit the title of War Chief upon the current chief’s death.

Alvania:

Congruence users in Alvania are normally taught in the House of Shepherds.

The people of Alvania have spent centuries studying the sea and the winds. There they train Alchemists to harness the power of nature and control it. Most of their congruence school focuses on learning to control the winds to assist their navy. Focus on seabound congruence is a main reason why Alvania has become such a wealthy and powerful nation.

In recent years there has also been a trend of imbuing jewelry and ornaments with congruence to create minor effects.
