Sidhaor
Jutting out from Pangella proper, Sidhaor is one of the many peninsulas to dot the coastline. Mostly, the land is indistinct from the rest of the mainland and, sesequently, The Eastern Glades. It's terribly fertile, with plenty of wood, gentle seasons, and interest to be a easy settling place for many.
That is, if you can ignore the wind, rain, and gradual raising of Athaitha's Tides.
Geography
The land is probably Sidhaor's most well known feature. I mean, thantese produce has to come from somewhere, and with how good it is, that somewhere must be a kind of holy ground. Still, there are other significant parts of the Peninsula, all of which help mitigate the persistant storms and winds to allow the crops to thrive.Shihd Forest
Almost like a tree skirt, a small yet lush forest sccates along the bottom of the penisula, gently framing Sidhaor. The trees are typically broad-leafed and colorful, and become a beautiful show of bronze, orange, and brown in the fall. The forest itself houses many game animals, and, through careful and judicious lumbering, the building blocks of many buildings in the area and the mulch over gardens when those buildings fall and rot.[Mountain River]
Of the two main rivers on the peninsula, this river flows south from the mountains. The river is deeper, faster flowing, and a wonderful source of fresh, cool water. Beautiful rocks and semi-precious stones can be found in the river bed, flowing from lofty springs and caves in the mountains. Children tend to enjoy finding them and there appears to be a small subculture of who can get prettiest, smoothest rock.[Grass River]
This river, the second of the two main ones, is a lazy, fat river. The waters are generally warm and shallow, about waist deep on an average Human male. It snakes along the grasslands and waters a magority of the crops year round. While not the cleanest water, It's warm enough to be easy swimming waters, and the current is gentle enough not to whisk away the laundry or a younger child learning to doggy paddle for the first time.Shvaúntekp Mountains
The Shvanúntekp Mountains are small things that just barely jut up on the bottom edge of the peninsula and reach over onto the mainland proper. They do a half-good job of blocking the wind. Half in the sence that they stop it from going north a breakneck speed, but then they send it east where it rushes across the glades at half break-neck speeds. there don't seem to be many precious ores in the mountains, and the things that live there tend to sty there so beyond the wind and the river, the mountain offers little to Sidhaor beside being something cool to look at.Grasslands
At last, we come to the best part. the flat middle area of Sidhaor where all the crops and cities and various creatures live. well, not all of them, but the incredibly vast majority. the earth is soft and spongy and very fertile. crops, once planted, seem to spring out of the ground twice the size and double the prjected yeild. sure, famers are still needed to tend to the crops, but with soil like this its almost like cheating. The uncultivated land is just as maginificent, with thick, tall grasses and so many fast growing and resiliant wild-flowers that paint the countryside beautiful colors during sping and sometimes summer. The only thing is that the ground seems to be getting progressivly, minutely soggier with every passing year. This isn't a problem. At least not yet.Climate, Weather, and All That Other Stuff
The Weather
This is where you learn why everyone isn't flocking to the apparent paradice that is Sidhaor. The weather. It's not magical or horrific like, say, over in the Johetza or Naish luu, but it is...intense. See, Sidhaor sits in a very specific place on the Athaitha Ocean, that is to say, right in the center of the wings that reach around pangella propper. Warm winds rush up along the southern coast, and cold winds rush down from the mountains and they just happen to colide right on the peninsula. It makes weather rather unpredicable, and incredibly intense. Massive storms from the aithaitha are funnelled over the peninsula, both hot and cold, twisting and twirling with the wind, unloading the weight of the sky. So, there is a lot of rain, all right out of the blue, then with another gust of wind coming from somewhere, the sky turns blue and sunny. It's impossible to plan or predict. the locals simply get used to it.Climate
It sits solidly in the temperate climate, meaning the temperatures tend to fluctuate, but stay fairly pleasant even while the weather is a moment's notice away from a break down. The Tides
At the very same time, the aithitha itself seems often against Sidhaors existance. If Aithitha was a person and Sidhaor was a person, then they would definitly hate eachother...in a loving sort of way. It's complicated. Currents colide and change direction here, so at the very base of the peninsula, there are a lot of big waves and terrible crashes and great surfing--if you like that sort of thing. The water flows and receeds with the seasons, being at it's height--and their for covering most of Sidhaor's coast-- in summer, and is at it's lowest in the winter, though that's when there are the most storms so it might not be any better.Natural Resources
The Soil
As mentioned before, the soil on Sidhaor is just...so incredibly fertile. It's almost magic, and people have gone and checked. It's precious all on it's own, and within farming communities, a handful of Sidhaor soil is a valuable thingDryads?
In every catagory, there does seem to be something that slips through the cracks and confuses everyone thats trying to catagorize it. In this case, its the surplus of happy Dryads and nyads that populate the Sidhaor. This peninsula seems to be one of the original homes of the Dryads. They are quite happy here, floating on the edges of civilization and helping where it is seemed they are needed. Many suppose they are the reason thantese produce is so good. However, as kind and content as they seem, there is an underlying understanding between the land and its tenents: take care of the land and the land will take care of you. If you don't, then there's nothing that will save you.Cultures, People, and The like
On an area so small and well maintained, there doesn't seem to be too many people who live there, at least not in any startling amounts of variety. Still, there are a few distinct cultures that are of note.Thantese
The Thantese happen to hold 2 records in terms of the various cultures; it is both the largest, and the newest. After having split from Apsaloosa only 107 years before. On the whole, the Thantese are quiet people who like to go about their daily lives with a sense of habit and peace. excitment is not something the Thantese would particularly enjoy, especially if it disturbs their routine. Or their crops. Or their neighbors. The Neighbors
These are the people without a name, the ones who lurk on the fringes of society and linger on the unweeded sides of feilds. in the singular, they are dryands and nyands and the spirits that wander and protect. however, as a whole, they don't like to be refurred to. So, they are the neighbors. Don't anger the neighbors.History
"Sidhaormu deî bî" is the full name in the original draconic, found carved on cliffs and rocks along the entire coast of the peninsula. How, why, and who put it there is a true mystery. over the years adn with errosion, the name was simply shortened to Sidhaor
