West Azuno

West Azuno is the vast western landmass of the island group continent of Azuno. It is a realm of striking contrasts, where vibrant villages and cities attempt to exist in harmony with the untamed wild nature of the landscape. All sorts of people, animals and obscure creatures roam these lands where magic thrives. From the wild magic that seems to be part of the land itself, to the mystical enchantments that grace the architectural marvels built by mortals and the powerful forces that dwell even deeper within the ancient wilderness.

The Empire of the Jade Eye

West Azuno is not just a realm of natural wonders; it is also home to the powerful and innovative Empire of the Jade Eye. This nation has spread across the mainland of the continent, known for its mastery of anti-magic arts, disciplined military might, and reverence for both innovation and ancient knowledge. The empire has thrived and grown steadily, a beacon of progress amidst the wild. Despite its seemingly benevolent nature, those who find themselves at odds with the empire quickly learn that it is not to be trifled with.

Diverse Cultures

Beyond the dominion of the Jade Eye, West Azuno is home to countless other cultures, each with its own unique history and way of life. Individual cities and countries have existed for centuries, mostly along the shores, where traderoutes increased their wealth and influence in the world. But there are also many hidden villages across the lands that hardly anyone knows of, and do not appear on maps. Nomadic tribes wander across the plains of Awaoka, and hidden deep within the jungles of Ankoya, isolated communities thrive in secrecy, their ways of life unknown to outsiders.

Ancient Ruins

Remnants of the Astran culture can be found throughout West Azuno. These ruins are scattered across the land, shrouded in mystery and legend. Some are hidden deep within the jungle, reclaimed by nature or the earth itself, while others stand as silent sentinels in the open, weathered by time but still imposing. Scholars and adventurers alike are drawn to these ruins, seeking to uncover the secrets of the Astran people and their forgotten knowledge of the universe.

Climate and Nature

The climate of West Azuno is predominantly tropical, characterized by high humidity and warm temperatures year-round. The region experiences a distinct wet season, during which torrential rains nourish the land, and a dry season, which brings slightly cooler temperatures. This climate supports the lush, verdant jungles that are the hallmark of the continent.   Jungles. The dark jungles of West Azuno are thick and impenetrable, with towering trees that form a dense canopy. The jungle floor is a world of perpetual twilight, teeming with life. Here, giant ferns and creeping vines create a lush undergrowth. The air is filled with the sounds of exotic birds, insects, and the occasional roar of a distant predator. Wild magic is prevalent especially within the jungles of West-Azuno, after the destruction of the Astris Tree in Ankoya and a few decades later the Night without Stars this magic became even stronger and chaotic.   Plains and Savannahs. Between the jungles and mountains are vast plains and savannahs. These open areas are covered with tall grasses that sway in the wind, creating a golden sea that stretches to the horizon. The plains are dotted with acacia trees and occasional rocky outcrops, providing habitats for a diverse array of wildlife. Herds of herbivores graze these grasslands, while predators lurk in the shadows, ready to strike.   Mountains. The mountains of West Azuno are majestic and imposing. In the south lie the arid Scurpakis Mountains, the largest mountainrange with the tallest mountains of West Azuno, home to dragons and giants. In the humid parts of West Ankoya the highlands are slightly more gentle. Covered with dense forests at lower elevations which gradually give way to rocky, barren landscapes near the summits. These mountain slopes are home to unique flora, including hardy shrubs, mosses, and a variety of orchids that cling to the rock faces. Waterfalls cascade down the mountainsides, feeding into the rivers and streams that crisscross the region.
