The New Southern Empire

A sprawling empire that takes up the fertile southern region of the Amber Expanse. The empire has been made powerful through a few strategic alliances with the Sanguine Order (a former freestanding magic guild) and the Sons of Sirn (a guild of rogues turned imperial spies). Externally, the emperor and the royal family rule supreme. However, due to the importance of these alliances, actual power is shared roughly equally among the royal family (who controls the guard), the Order, and the Sons of Sirn.
Their agenda is largely for good, if and only if it helps the human population of their fully fledged citizens. Humankind does quite well under imperial rule - crops grow tall and life is comfortable with magical innovations. Otherwise, the empire has a checkered history of displacing the people left behind after their conquests and that of other races. So much so that many of the furkin and dwarves in the empire face the decision of indentured servitude or fleeing to the wilds.
