Soul

The Soul is the most powerful force in the universe, composed of fragments of the gods' essence given to mortals as a gift. Everything in the universe, from stars to people, is powered by soul energy. However, due to its immense power, storing too much soul energy within the body can be extremely harmful, leading to either Soul Destruction or Soul Corruption, depending on various factors. Consequently, every living being has a maximum capacity for storing soul energy within their physical form. This finite amount of soul energy is commonly referred to as Magic or Mana.

Manifestation

Soul Energy

The Soul emanates two fundamental energies: negative and positive soul energy. Each soul comprises a unique blend of these energies, with varying proportions of one over the other. Magic, in all its forms, taps into these energy sources. However, different branches of magic exclusively draw upon either positive or negative soul energy, never both. Even within the same magical category, the energy types utilized can vary significantly.   Negative soul energy is often associated with attributes such as darkness, life, peace, healing, and emotions. It serves as a purifying force, commonly found in healing, mental, and spiritual magic. On the other hand, positive soul energy is linked to qualities like light, death, war, and destruction, functioning as a potent protective force in the cosmos. This energy predominates in protective spells and wards.   However, there are harmful manifestations of both positive and negative soul energy that individuals may encounter when excessively employing certain types of magic. Excessive exposure to harmful negative energy can corrupt the soul, while an overdose of harmful positive energy can lead to the complete destruction of the soul. Harmful positive energy is often called Desolation in order to differentiate between it and normal positive energy while harmful negative energy is called Blight.   Blight emits a strong sulfur odor, a sharp stench often tied to decay, rotting vegetation, or volcanic activity. This is very different from the pleasant, earthy scents of healthy negative energy, reminiscent of grass, flowers, or sea salt. Those exposed to Blight often experience a grainy sensation in their mouth, like ash or dirt, making it difficult to breathe or speak, with the taste lingering long after, rendering food and drink unappealing. Desolation, on the other hand, carries a smoky scent, like burning wood or metal. Unlike the fresh, crisp smell of normal positive energy, which evokes rain or ozone, Desolation smells of something consumed by fire, symbolizing loss and destruction. It leaves an iron-like taste in the mouth, similar to blood, reinforcing its association with death and war. This metallic taste is unsettling, serving as a warning that something is dangerously wrong.

Spiritual Abilities

Spiritual Abilities are powers derived from an individual’s soul and unlike magic cannot be cultivated by mere training. Each individual’s spiritual ability is unique, often tied to their personal soul essence and bloodline. While certain bloodlines are known for specific powers often passed down through generations, sometimes skipping generations or manifesting differently depending on individual traits. For most spiritual abilities are entirely unique with no two people having the same spiritual abilities, even if they share a common ancestry. Spiritual abilities have inherent limitations based on the individual’s soul and bloodline. These limitations can include the scope of power, the contexts in which the power can be used, or physical and emotional constraints. Like any magical power, misuse or excessive strain can lead to negative consequences. Spiritual abilities can become tainted or corrupted if used for malicious purposes or overextended.

Magic

There exists a multitude of magic types, often categorized as schools of magic, each with its own subsets, and sometimes these subsets have further divisions. Each of these schools use different energy types with some subtypes using energy types different from its parent school.
Elemental Magic
Elemental magic, unlike most other types of magic, can only be taught through experiences. Elemental magic is all about feeling, controlling, taming, observing the elements. You have to go outside and be one with yourself and the world around you. You have to feel the wind in your hair, the water on your skin, the earth beneath your feet, the heat of a raging fire. You have to watch the light dance across different surfaces. Intuition is key in elemental magic, as one must learn to flow with the energies around them. Mastery begins with attunement to the elements, understanding them, and embracing them without fear. Elemental magic serves as the foundation for magical practice, as it teaches individuals to harness the spiritual energies present in the world and utilize them to their fullest potential.
Spirit Magic
Spirit magic is a mystical and complex form of magic that delves deep into the realms of the spiritual and metaphysical. Spirit magic stands apart from other magical disciplines due to its inherent complexity. Learning even a single type of spirit magic can be a long and arduous journey, often spanning years, if not decades. To master spirit magic means to forge a profound connection not only with one's own soul but with the very fabric of the spiritual realm itself. Practitioners must navigate the intricate web of the metaphysical, seeking to understand and manipulate the energies and forces that exist beyond the material world.
Healing Magic
Healing magic focuses on restoring health, vitality, and well-being and primarily uses negative soul energy. Subsets of healing magic include traditional forms of healing, such as herbalism as well as more specialized practices like regeneration magic, emotional healing, or disease manipulation. Healing magic requires a deep understanding of the body and all of its components.
War Magic
War Magic, a formidable school of magic, is dedicated to the art of combat, destruction, and offensive prowess. Unlike many other magical disciplines, War Magic predominantly harnesses positive soul energy, channeling its potent forces to unleash devastating spells, combat techniques, and destructive forces upon adversaries. Within the expansive realm of War Magic, practitioners explore diverse avenues of offensive power, mastering an array of spells and techniques designed to vanquish enemies and triumph on the battlefield.
Protection Magic
Protection magic involves the use of positive soul energy and revolves around creating barriers, shields, and wards to defend against harm and negative influences. Subsets of protection magic include defensive elemental magic (e.g., creating walls of earth or barriers of fire), warding spells (e.g., protective sigils or charms), or banishment rituals to repel malevolent entities.
Dark Magic
Dark magic delves into forbidden or morally ambiguous practices, often involving manipulation of negative energies or delving into taboo subjects. Subsets of dark magic may encompass curses, hexes, shadow manipulation, or rituals involving sacrifice or forbidden knowledge.
Teleportation
Teleportation magic enables instantaneous travel from one location to another, bypassing physical barriers and distances. Subsets of teleportation magic may include spatial manipulation (e.g., folding space to create portals), or dimensional travel (crossing into alternate dimensions or planes of existence). However it is important to note that while everyone can teleport. It takes an incredible amount of energy depending upon the distance and only demons, angels, and grim reapers are able to travel through dimensions. As they are the only species with a high enough blood to magic ratio.

Celestial Objects

Because the soul is fragments of the gods' essence soul energy exists in every facet of existence. The result of this is that magic frequently draws influence from celestial bodies, resulting in varying degrees of difficulty for specific types of magic or rituals depending on the celestial objects involved.

The Sun

The Sun is a radiant and awe-inspiring celestial entity, often regarded as a source of positive energy and divine power within the universe. Magic aligned with the Sun is commonly associated with protection, destruction, and the physical body. Rituals and spells harnessing positive energy are believed to be most potent when performed during the Sun's zenith, capitalizing on its radiant strength. Despite its life-giving properties, the Sun's immense power commands both awe and caution; its brilliance can bring life, yet excessive exposure can yield destructive consequences.

The Moon

The Moon, like the sun, is a very important magical figure within the universe and is often associated with negative energy and in many cultures the moon itself is the source of negative energy in the universe. Making it a very powerful object when it comes to magic. The moon is seen by many as a symbol of purification, healing, and the mind/spirit due to its connection with both water and negative energy. There are several points in time where the moon’s power is at its greatest, providing a significant boost to magic users capabilities.

Comets

Comets are fascinating celestial phenomena, each possessing unique and unpredictable magical properties. Some comets bolster the abilities of practitioners attuned to positive energy, while others enhance those aligned with negative energy. Certain comets have even been associated with granting seers and prophets profound visions of the future as they traverse the skies above the planet. With comets, it's truly a mixed bag of magical effects, making their appearances an intriguing and uncertain event.

Shooting Stars/Meteorites

Shooting Stars, also known as Meteorites, possess distinctive magical properties, offering the opportunity to make wishes. However, the fulfillment of these wishes often unfolds in unexpected or unintended ways, diverging from the wisher's original intentions.

Constellations

Similar to Comets, Constellations harbor a diverse array of magical properties, exerting profound influences on individuals. These influences are collectively referred to as the zodiac, and they can shape personalities, behaviors, and even destinies in significant ways.

Planets

Each planet in earth's solar system, as well as in other systems, possesses unique magical properties and channels distinct types of soul energy.

Anatomy of The Soul

The Soul has three major parts; Aura, Spirit, and the Magical Core.

The Magical Core

As stated earlier a person can only store a very limited amount of soul energy within their physical bodies, this is where that energy is stored. The Magical Core is the most important part of any mage’s body and is located within the heart, plumbing magic infused blood throughout the body. In fact this process is the reason that Vampires and other types of blood demons drink blood, it holds the essence of the most powerful energy source in the universe.   Each species has a different blood-magic ratio, the higher the ratio the more powerful the species. Below is a chart illustrating the average blood-magic ratio of eight distinct species.
Individuals can only perform a limited amount of magic before depleting their mana, rendering them unable to wield magic for extended durations. Although there have been instances of individuals utilizing magic even with an empty magical core, such practices are highly discouraged as excessive strain on one's magical core can lead to severe injury or even death. Through rigorous training of the body and magical abilities, the capacity of one's magical core can be expanded, allowing for the storage of greater energy.

Spirit

The spirit constitutes the aspect of the soul existing within the spiritual realm, discernible only to the most powerful mages. It holds information about an individual's emotions and is a spiritual representation of a person's mental state. Instances of severe trauma can lead to fractures within the spirit, rendering it vulnerable to the infiltration of malevolent negative energy. Without appropriate intervention, this vulnerability may facilitate the corruption of the soul.   The obliteration of another individual's soul is regarded as a heinous act surpassing mere physical death, punishable by death in numerous societies. Annihilating someone's spirit not only deprives them of an afterlife but also precludes any chance of reincarnation. Once a prevalent practice in the darkest annals of history, the knowledge of this art has been consigned to oblivion, with its originator expunged from historical records entirely.

Aura

Aura, residing beyond the physical form, serves as a window into an individual's psyche. Each hue within an aura corresponds to a specific emotion experienced by the person. Meanwhile, the intensity of an aura reflects the extent to which negative energy has permeated the individual, influenced by factors such as intense emotions, traumatic experiences, excessive use of particular magic, or even possession. It's not uncommon for aura colors to blend, creating novel shades, or for multiple hues to coexist within the aura, revealing intricate layers of emotion.   Here are some common aura colors:
Red: Anger
Orange: Fear
Yellow: Happiness
Green: Jealousy
Blue: Sadness/Depression/Loss
Purple: Love

The Polarities

There are three different types of souls known collectively as the Polarities: Positive, Negative, and Neutral. They refer to how easy a soul is to corrupt and influence; basically it’s a measure on how much negative energy it can take in. Positive souls are the hardest to corrupt while on the flip side Negative souls are the easiest. Neutral souls are extremely rare and can not be corrupted; only a god can tell what type of souls someone has and none of this relates to mortal concepts such as morality. A negative soul does not mean an evil one, just like a positive soul does not relate to goodness.
