North-Central Approach

At A Glance

The North Central Approach region lies directly north of the Kingdom of Auredain separated only by the Border Hills. It is a mostly unsettled location to the east and west, bifurcated by the Auran River. To the north, the lands remain the haunt of the beastmen and subhumans that ripped it from Old Aendor over a hundred years ago.

Dyramar Keep, the furthest settled point north of the Auredain Kingdom, lies within the Border Hills. North of there, the region has been mostly unexplored and certainly unconquered. The efforts of some stalwart expeditionary parties, specifically the Companions of our tale, have done some mapping across the scrub plains north of Dyramar and even into the Sallow Hills.

History

Modern Era

The North-Central Approach has only recently seen organized incursions by the Kingdom of Auredain. This was spearheaded by the ambitious campaign of kingdom forces and volunteers that resecured the old yet intact Dyramar Keep from the beastmen infesting it. The Border Hills were swept during this campaign as well but much work remains to be done in rooting out the enemies of the Named Races.

At the moment, only the shore trail of the Auran River, the immediate area surrounding the Keep and its tenant village is considered 'settled frontier'. However, even there, the constant threat of a beastmen incursion from the northern portion renders the stoutest pioneer into a guarded individual.
