Mam Fran

An enigmatic and elusive figure in the resistance movement, Mam Fran (Crow Mother) has been active since its inception two centuries ago with the fall of the Elnorian Empire against the invading Commonwealth. She is one of its highest authorities, seemingly everywhere and nowhere and appearing in a wide array of guises. Along with Arthur Pendragon, Mam Fran is one of the longest serving resistance leaders and a top priority for elimination by the Commonwealth for her demise would be a great blow against those seeking to drive the Earth invaders back whence they came.

Appearance

Mam Fran appears in numerous different forms, revealing herself to resistance cells across Otherworld. Her forms, or avatars, consist of a young girl, a woman in her prime and an elderly woman. The Maiden, the Mother and The Crone. The forms differ with no consistent theme save for the omnipresent Corvids who act as her spies.

Origins

Mam Fran appeared shortly the fall of the Elnorian Empire and the Commonwealth began to consolidate its control across Otherworld. Her identity is unknown and as a result there are numerous theories. One says she is one of the Old Ones, the ancient rulers of Otherworld who seemingly perished during the Cataclysm. Another that is she is an Elder Goddess, one of the Ascendants called the Morrigan. Credence to this theory is her association with Corvids as Mam Fran is invariably accompanied by a single or many Crows and Ravens. A third theory claims her to be an Elnorian noble, perhaps one of the Royal House as the children of the High King and High Queen were not confirmed to have perished, in spite of Commonwealth propaganda.

Who or whatever she is Mam Fran remains an important figure in the resistance, with many worshipping her as a patron God.

Goals

The mysterious Crow Mother works to undermine the Commonwealth wherever possible, controlling an extensive spy network. Either herself or her agents, the Crows, approach resistance cells with information on targets. She has access to secret pathways allowing her avatars to travel Otherworld swiftly and safely from wherever he lair is. She rarely takes to the field herself but on the handful of occasions where she has, in whatever form she takes, Mam Fran is a formidable combatant wielding magic on a scale few have seen. To date, none of her avatars have ever been slain or captured by the Commonwealth.

On occasion she orders a resistance cell to complete a task that seemingly has little to no effect upon the war against the Commonwealth, yet her command is still followed such is the respect accorded to her. It is believed these tasks serve some hidden purpose known only to Mam Fran and will one day pave the way for freedom from the oppressive Commonwealth.
