Gnomes
Gnomes - the scourge of the Ashen Lands, arrived in the Grand Age in the event known as the Invasion of the Gnomes. Raiding from north of the Dwarven Mountains, they traversed the lands with great speed. Within a single day, they may arrive, burn half a dozen villages, and escape through the mountain passes before any response may be made. Many legendary figures would try to fight them off, including Sir Grant and The Life of Sir Ilya. The climax of the fight against hte gnomes in the Grand Age would be at the The Cracking of Hope, where a horde of gnomes and Nighthumans lay waste to the final beacon of stability the Ashen Land may ever see again.
Tales still tell of raiding parties entering from the north, attacking any warm body in site.
