Fire Warriors
"A searing blade can be matched only by the conviction of a searing heart. Both are tools essential to a Fire Warrior."Fire Warriors are legendary and distinguished swordsmen who wield the artifacts known as glassblades. With their flaming weapons, they are dangerous enemies and are often considered the elite of warriors in Thripia. Often, they are trained in the Oracular Arts. Additionally, within the ranks of Fire Warriors, a distinction is made between those who merely use a glassblade for their weapon and those who have been properly trained and apprenticed under a master Fire Warrior. The former are known simply as glass swordsmen whereas the latter are considered true Fire Warriors who make use of age old techniques and philosophy. Many of the Dynasty Kings, wielding the Dynasty Blade, have been Fire Warriors.
Function
As martially focused experts, Fire Warriors are at home on the field of battle and within armies. They frequently engage in duels with their opponents, as well. Their techniques revolve around making use of their glassblades' unique properties. For instance, the trails of fire left behind in the wake of a slash are often utilized for defense or as obstacles. In general, an effective Fire Warrior must practice with their weapon frequently as the temperamental element of the tool means it can just as easily harm the user as it can the user's enemy. It must be kept at a minimum distance from the body, or moved away quickly, to avoid overheating, for instance. Ultimately, however, a Fire Warrior's technique varies from individual to individual.Philosophy
Unique among clades of swordsmen, Fire Warriors practice a distinct philosophy or code of conduct which maintains their integrity and reputation. It is for this reason that untrained or uninitiated Fire Warriors are referred to as glass swordsmen instead. In this way, Fire Warrior is as much a coveted title as much as it is a profession. To be known as a Fire Warrior, it is crucial that a swordsman first find a master to apprentice themselves under. This master, in turn, is like to have many decades of experience and been trained by their own master previously. Everything Fire Warriors know is passed to them from the previous generation of Fire Warriors in a constant cycle of wisdom and self-improvement. Foremostly, Fire Warriors teach control. It is important, given the nature of their weapons, that they have complete mastery over their actions so as to avoid the unintended consequences that can come with undisciplined use of a glassblade. Wild and impulsive behavior is discouraged and is seen as a black mark upon any potential apprentice. Yet, Fire Warriors are rarely detached despite their firm beliefs in self-control. They also emphasize the importance and power of conviction and passion which can drive an individual to succeed. Ultimately, their skills as warriors are learnt so that it may be put to use in the name of a great cause. Otherwise, it is wasted on inaction and a Fire Warrior's tutelage has been for nothing. Lastly, Fire Warriors are in constant search of growth and self improvement. To be static and unchanging is to abandon new ways of thinking and performing which may restrict an individual's ability. Pursuit of greatness, perfection and mastery is ultimately hampered by stagnation. It is for this reason that they often study ichor and the Oracular Arts. Though they are rarely as skilled a dedicated Oracle, they are nonetheless capable diviners of the future. As well as this, their desire for learning and improvement is what drives them to take on apprentices in order to pass on their knowledge and improve that knowledge over time.
