Campaign of Corpses

The vicious wars waged between Zewilir’s allies and Ácolitus illustrate an aspect of war which differs between Qadal and Voryndal- scale. In the regions of the former, warfare is an affair boasting some thousands of warriors across multiple campaign fronts. During Karundar, the total combatants rose well over 200,000 between all hosts. In the Drakayen War of 3451, the Corgastorians rose some 100,000 drafted warriors to combat the 60,000 Etayen. In the Wars of Settlement in Nevan, the Axodraharik brought the full measure of their races, thousands upon thousands, to combat the Qazunari. While this might appear massive without suitable comparison, these numbers yet allow for nuanced and direct command by commanders and their chiefs lieutenants.   Military matters in Voryndal are nothing alike, where the massive populations of directly competing Eshanic masters conjure conflicts of unimaginable ferocity and bloodshed. This is not to argue that any races in Voryndal are more numerous or superior to those in Qadal, but that they’re more numerous. Qadal’s five or more races pale in comparison to the two dozen or more crushed into the same amount of geographical space.   Another aspect of note in these attritional campaigns of utter annihilation was Eshanic deprivation, which was briefly mentioned in discussing Áckesh. The concept is that Áckeshir power might be used to drown and destroy the Eshanic essence presence within mortals. In doing so, the Eshanic patron of the afflicted is deprived of that power, causing an overall decline in energy by getting involved. With such weakness, other Eshan could themselves incease their influence through giving power and force victory in their favor. It was an effective and deadly tactic. The problem is that a measure of mutually assured destruction was introduced into the already horrific wars of Voryndal. Each Eshanic master feared the Áckesh wielded by the others, and thus sought to be the first to master its potency.
