Matters of Manifested and Natural Evil

Nemgarotiric beasts and evil at large are not bound under a single master, Eshanic or otherwise, who dictates their actions and orchestras their machinations. Unnatural forces of malignity are a byproduct of the Vojûnic energies that flow throughout Qadal like the blood in a mortal's veins. In black caves, deep ravines, remote mountains, foreboding swamps the corrupted energies of Vojûn, once created for good purpose, coalesce into physical form. The Etayen call these beasts Vojeyen, or People of Vojûn. Once begun, the process of creation for such aberrations may take only the course of a night, as the energy forms into winding tentacles, cruel barbs, and gnarled teeth. It is the same manner by which Eshanic races were created during the -- era. By the time the dawn rises, there now exists another monstrosity to prowl for the weak and unwary in Qadal. In the dreaded Weeping Era period, the manifestation of Vojûnic constructs was somewhat random, as Vojeyen would spawn in places where excess Vojûn had built up, regardless of the location. Local heroes and ordinary soldiers were sufficient to quell these threats. This drastically changed following the death of Atûn and the collapse of Étunas. The energy of Vojûn, which the Eshara of Atûn was able to keep at bay within Etal, burst out into wider Qadal like a broken dam relenting to flood waters. The sheer volume of the energy released caused the process of Vojûnic birth to excel ten-fold. Where there had once been only occasional instances of Vojûnite constructs, now there were hundreds as more beasts were born by the night. The conflict against aberrations of Vojûn during the Weeping Era was the de facto beginning of the struggle between self ordained forces of good and the tide of Nemgarotirs, vile nemeshari, and other minions of evil. This said, the existence of malignant entities was more complex than binary sides might allow.   The Weeping Era was the worst time in history to dwell in the realms of mortals. The residual nemeshir of Atûn was still fresh then, allowing Nemgarotirs to form rapidly and bear great power. This created an environment where every dark place, no matter how safe it seemed, could harbor a Nemgarotiric entity. Some lay in wait in these dark caves and hideaways, growing their power in the nurturing blackness as a baby does in the mother's womb. Suddenly they would burst from their holes and bring ruination and chaos to the world, with no higher goal than to cause suffering. Worse still than the Nemgarotirs' power and ferocity was the inability of the world to respond to the threat. Evil ran rampant, and it ran deep. It corrupted all it encountered, and laid waste that what it could not corrupt. To kill even a single Nemgarotir was a great challenge, but to do so did not stop the tide of their arrival. A community could enjoy peace for only a short time before yet another Nemgarotir formed in the dark places to bring ruin in the stead of the Nemgarotir that had been vanquished. It was only once the Vojûnic energy had sufficiently dissipated in the early centuries of the Imperial Age that the world could know peace from Vojûnic attacks.   Another turn regarding the malignant manifestation of evil in Qadal came in during the Great Conflict, under the reign of Bal’gorod Nathrobal. He weaponized his mastery of Áckesh, developed in complete secrecy during the early years of his reign, and wrought complete havoc over neighboring Jequasghal. Wherever his army marched, he attained captives. These poor souls were subject to experiments pressing the boundaries of mortal strength and mental capabilities. Hideous things unworthy for written word blackened the reputation of the Nathrobal. Yet, Bal’gorod persisted. In the Jequayen phase of the war, he uplifted Áckesh to the dreadful heights of the art through forced possession. The minds of this captives, innocents and warriors alike, were shattered by Áckesh, turning them into living yet mindless husks.   In modern times, Vojûnic monsters do still exist in the world, though not in the numbers of the past. The remnant energy of Vojûn still lingers in the world, and from it new Nemgarotirs form. While the cycling energy of Vojûn does spawn beasts, the most common way for Nemgarotirs to be introduced into the world is through rituals conducted by nemeshari known as Zjolmar, or Nemgarotir Ones. It is a general term for the dark and depraved race of man who has been corrupted by the allure of Nemgarotiric nemeshir. This being said, not all those who worship and follow Nemgarotirs are Zjolmar. That name is saved for those who practice the dark nemeshirs, summoning and commanding Nemgarotirs at their own will. Typhon was one of these Zjolmar, and perhaps the most powerful, as he was able to use his combined artifacts to control legions of these Nemgarotirs. That was millennia ago, and now the most powerful Zjolmar barely compare to the ones of old. They have been driven underground and are constant hunted by the Inquisition of Corgastor.
