The
Sea Grove of Atroa, north of the town of
Saltmarsh, is home to Ferrin Kastilar, the druid who tends the shrine to the Herald of Storms.
Ferrin is well informed about any rumours regarding aberrations in the wild, thanks to his contacts with the
Elves of
Silverstand, who he communicates with via the use of wild birds. He is often the first in town to hear of any problems in the
Darwood.
He has lived in
Saltmarsh for over twenty years, and is seen by the populace as a slightly eccentric, but valued member of the community. He says that he was drawn to the Sea Grove during his wanderings in the north.
Appearance and Mannerisms
Ferrin is a middle-aged
Lightfoot Halfling with a ruddy complexion and a long, upturned nose. His long curly, brown hair pokes out from beneath a green pointy hat that has a bright orange feather tucked into the side.
The rest of the garb comprises oversized brown and green robes with many leather straps to which are tied a variety of herbs.
Ferrin is a slightly melancholy individual, always saddened by the terrible things that are being done to the seas and the forests of the world. He only really brightens up when smoking from his long wooden pipe, something that he will do at any opportunity.
The druid is a friend to all the animals of the
Sea Grove of Atroa, but has formed a special friendship with two in particular. A large bullfrog called Lorys who follows him everywhere, and a white rat called Frederick Roscuro that lives under his hat. He chats to his animal friends incessantly.
Ferrin also leans into the hedonistic side of
Atroa's religion, and is very keen to practice the rites of fertility!
Notable Achievements
Ferrin is an accomplished weather reader and has accurately predicted many dangerous storms. His warnings are closely listened to by the sailors of the town.
