Formerly a nascent Great Old One named Iauzioxhin who tried to devour the sun and was slain by the sun god Yumos, Magnera was reborn as an empyreal lord, a celestial demigod. Known as the Cosmic Sailor, Magnera gifted Yumos the Breaking Dawn, the ship he uses to travel the solar system, and serves as its navigator. As she was redeemed herself, she seeks to redeem others. She is in love with Yumos, but he does not share her feelings, so she keeps them secret.

As Iauzioxhin, Magnera was inconcievably large and alien, but when she was redeemed, she was able to choose her new form. She now resembles a human woman of the same age and ethnicity as Yumos, but donning the clothes of a sailor instead of a warrior.

Tenets of Faith

Magnera has no holy text, instead communicating much more directly with her followers than most divine figures. This is how she can be worshiped in her aspect as an unrequited lover, as her followers are forbidden from making this information known in a way that may lead to Yumos discovering it. Magnera does not command her followers to courses of action, but rather encourages them to lead better lives and similarly encourage such betterment in others. She is also worshiped by sailors and explorers, even if they have no interest in redemption, for her expertise as a navigator.

Personal history

Magnera's own memories of her past life are blurry and incomplete, and become more so the farther back in time they originate. She began as an extremely powerful, but not malevolent, being, who inhabited the Dark Tapestry, the space between stars. Eventually, a ship belonging to the Dominion of the Black, a faction of multiple alien species known for conquering, enslaving, and destroying worlds, happened upon her. Taking note of the latent power she still held within her, they returned with greater numbers and expertise and began conducting dark rites to influence and control her. The Dominion used Iauzioxhin as a weapon in their invasions, feeding her countless lives, and this caused her to grow in size and power, eventually coming close to the power of the Great Old Ones.

The Dominion was highly intrigued by the idea of having control over a being as powerful as a Great Old One, and so they sought to induce a full transformation in Iauzioxhin. If she were to consume a star, her power would grow tremendously, and so they brought her to Nerilia's solar system, thinking that a missing sun would also make conquering Nerilia far easier. Before they could make it to the sun, however, the then empyreal lord Yumos noticed them, and he and his celestial warriors rode to the Sun to stop them. At first, it seemed that the Dominion's fleet would win, as they were more than a match for Yumos's warriors, but when Yumos slew Iauzioxhin and turned his attention to the Dominion, the tide was turned and the Sun was saved. Yumos ascended to full godhood and gained his domain as a sun deity through this victory.

Death for a being as great as Iauzioxhin is not always permanent, and in her case, during her battle with Yumos, his righteousness had purged the Dominion's dark influence from her. Having been redeemed, Iauzioxhin was reborn as an empyreal lord, a celestial demigod of good, taking a new form similar to that of Yumos and the name Magnera. In gratitude to Yumos for saving her, Magnera transformed the Dominion fleet's flagship into the Breaking Dawn and gifted it to him, imbuing it with the sun's fire so that it could cross the solar system quickly. She became the ship's navigator and has served as Yumos's most loyal ally since then.

Social

Contacts & Relations

As she accompanied Yumos on his mission to protect the solar system and saw his devotion to good, Magnera's gratitude and respect for him turned into love. She has fallen deeply for Yumos, but he is oblivious to her feelings, being too focused on his constant vigil. Magnera endures a constant longing, keeping her love secret, although Yumos would not reject her if she were to confess.
