Spear of Phodr

The Spear of Phodr is the weapon once wielded by the god Phodr, and is imbued with his power. It allows the wielder to shape the earth as they wish, and is extremely powerful in combat. It is even possible that there is more that could be done with it, such as bringing the dead god back to life.

History

Phodr was a god of the land, freedom, and protection, and watched over a nation named after him. He did not rule, and took a relaxed approach to advising. His power over nature drove off potential invaders, making his nation completely safe. That changed, however, when the neighboring Cyrdian Empire, a nation with advanced knowledge of alchemy and magic, sent an assassin into Phodr. Named Ulem, this assassin was the greatest of the androids, artificial humans with mortal souls, and was created for the express purpose of slaying a god. It was easy for a single man to sneak across the border and find Phodr. Ulem's abilities, as well as the specially created dagger he wielded, allowed him to sneak up and kill Phodr, and he ascended to godhood himself by stealing Phodr's divinity.

Before he died, however, what little of Phodr's power that was not taken by Ulem poured into his favored weapon, his spear, transforming it into an artifact of tremendous power. Before it could be found, however, the Great Cataclysm occured, leaving much of the world in ruin. Being an artifact, Phodr's spear survived, and it waits now for a new wielder.

Significance

After Phodr died, his nation quickly fell. For that reason, the Spear of Phodr, if ever found, would have incredible cultural significance to the descendants of the Phodrans. At least, if they even remember a pre-cataclysm nation at all. Of course, as a powerful artifact, anyone wielding it would have the power to change the course of history.
