Introduction
Yarik Dragedræber, also known as Chief Yarik, Cheif Dragedræber and The Bear of Grimsa, is the current chief of the Grimsa tribe of vikings. Yarik is the widower of Astrid Dragedræber and father of Olaf and Vivica Dragedræber. Known as the Bear of Grimsa due to his larger size and strength but also his protectiveness of his tribe members and family. As is the youngest son of the previous chief, Vali Dragedræber the White wolf, and was never supposed to become the Chief. However, due to the death of his father and older brother, Ormr Dragedræber during a fishing trip turned wrong Yarik was thrust upon the throne at the young age of seventeen. A fierce warrior and a master of nearly every weapon preferring to use the sword with his personal sword known as Longfang. Yarik is blood brothers with Harold Læder and Magnus Wilhelm known as the warriors three having gone on many adventures together before and after Yarik took his place on the throne of Grimsa.Appearance
Yarik is a tall man and muscular man, standing at 6'5 and nearly 300 lbs. He has brown eyes, light tanned skin and black hair with grey and white hairs making them self present in his elder years. Yarik's face and body is coated in scars with the most noticeable one being on his face from next to his left eye across and down towards his lips, he washed up on the shore with this scar after the fishing trip that caused his father and brother to die. He normally wears thick cloaks of fur like many vikings made out of the pelt of a polar bear, around his neck is a chain with the head of a bear attached to the front made of iron. He wears an ear ring on his right ear, a tooth from the elusive snow wraith dragon and acted as his wife's betrothal gift to him. Yarik's sword Longfang is never far from his side always being within an arms reach of him.Personality
Yarik's name of the Bear of Grimsa doesn't just come from his size but also his personality, a man with a large heart and shows his emotions on his sleeve being incredibly protective about those he loves especially since the great raid. A man of emotion Yarik normally acts first and thinks later often being swayed in the heat of the moment to do things he wouldn't normally do. His default is a loud and caring man who enjoys talking to anyone who is willing to loose a few hours, passionate about his passions of fighting, drinking and his family he is one of the more friendly chiefs in the archipelago. However, Yarik's attitude vastly changes when confronted with those he deems as a threat to him, his family or his tribe becoming cold and full of rage never hesitating for a moment.Background
Early Life
Yarik was born on 16th Heyannir 44 BGR on the island of Grimsa to Revna Logi and Vali Dragedræber, born prematurely Revna Logi died due to childbirth passing on to Freya's halls of Fólkvangr. This caused a large rift between Vali and Yarik that never fully repaired itself with Vali always blaming Yarik for the death of his beloved wife. Growing up his older brother Ormr Dragedræber ignored Yarik for the most part besides the occasional beat up and taking pocket money. Having no family who wanted anything to do with him, besides his cousin Ferrus Logi, he spent all his time from dawn to dusk where he made friends with two other kids Harold Læder, the blacksmiths son, and Magnus Wilhelm, the fishers son. Together they where an inseparable trio causing mayhem and going on as many adventures as they could, for some reason the chief didn't seem to notice one of his sons went missing for weeks at a time.Teenage Years
During his teenage years Yarik, Harold and Magnus' lives continued to be one of adventure sailing on boats, fighting pirates and killing dragons (and perhaps more things no father has talked about with his children) however the night before the Harvest Festival when all three would enter adulthood all three made a blood pact vowing to always be by each others sides and became blood brothers. Through the years Yarik became more and more popular in the village, even if him and his friends caused trouble they often made up for it doing odd jobs for many in the village. Yarik was charismatic, humble and courageous if not stubborn and emotional while his older brother Ormr hadn't changed cunning, scheming and self centered. Many neighboring islands celebrate the Harvest Festival together, this year the event was held on the island of Reykja. While at the festival a girl caught Yarik's eye, after plenty of mead and lots of convincing from his cousin and brothers he approached her and drank, tried the ritual herbs and talked with her all night. One slight problem with Yarik's master plan, he forgot to ask her name or what tribe she was from and when Yarik woke she had gone. Not knowing who she was or where she was from Yarik returned back to Grimsa mostly glued to the horizon and a bucket. A year after this Harvest Festival, Vali Dragedræber took his two boys out on a fishing trip seeming to have thawed out as the years passed by in what some seem to see as an attempt to mend his relationship with his youngest son. However, the boat didn't return with the group the tribe quickly became worried until Yarik wased up on the shores four days later barely holding onto a piece of the boat he had sailed out with. During the boat's trip the group had been attacked by a monster, possibly a troll or other humanoid creature perhaps even a Lycanwing, which had killed both his father and left Yarik with a long scar across his face. Yarik never talked about the day again besides to his closest confidants. After the death of his father Yarik was declared the Chief of Grimsa at the young age of seventeen, becoming one of the youngest Chief's in the Archipelago.Adult Life
While Yarik was officially the chief of Grimsa, his fathers previous advisors helped to rush his education on how to be a chief since all the effort had been put into his older brother leaving Yarik very under prepared for his new role. Despite his new responsibilities, Yarik still had a habit of going on spontaneous adventures with his friends. While on one of these adventures, Yarik, Harold and Magnus had been captured by the Pirates of Ægir and while trying to come up with an escape plan the boat suddenly came under fire by a raiding party, using this as an attempt to escape the trio escaped the pirates prisoner only to be attacked and captured by the raiders. While sailing back to the raiders island Yarik recognized the women leading the raid as the same as his Harvest Festival but more importantly the group also reconsigned the tribal crest, the Vargrsker tribe. The Grimsa and Vargrsker tribes have had a blood feud lasting generations. During the trio's incarceration Yarik managed to get the women's name four years after they met, Astrid Warg. One night the trio's cells where left unlocked and they made their escape, stole a boat and sailed away back to Grimsa. While under Vali's rule there had been many conflicts with the Vargrsker Yarik hadn't made any moves against them and as the Chief of Vargrsker Dreki Warg grew older and more crazy his eldest son Ivar Warg took more and more control over the tribe. Yarik nobly lead the scouting missions against any suspected Vargrsker groups that just so happened to be led by Astrid Warg. Eventually after the death of Dreki Warg during a meeting between Ivar and Yarik and idea was proposed to end the blood feud was to unite the bloodlines by a marriage. So the marriage of Yarik and Astrid led to the end of the Grimsian-Vargrskerian war and led to the two tribes becoming close allies, with Ivar becoming very close friends with Yarik. Yarik and Astrid had two children together Olaf and Vivica Dragedræber, Yarik finally had the family he had always wanted. That was until the great raid of Grimsa when Yarik lost Olaf and Astrid leaving him with only his daughter as the last of his family. After the Great raid Yarik become far more protective and defensive leaving the island far less often and keeping her away from others in an attempt to protect her.
