Draconic

Draconic is the term used to describe something that has absorbed mana that was produced by the dragon and can apply to items, the earth, and creatures. The description will focus on the effects of draconic mana on creatures.
Creatures becoming draconic can result in a number of effects; they could begin to grow scales, gain control over the element that matches the dragon's breath weapon, be able to summon spectral wings and fly, etc.

Transmission & Vectors

Dragons are incredibly magical creatures whose mana output could not only keep them alive without needing sleep, food, or drink but use it to cast powerful magic without becoming exhausted (as long as the dragon is intelligent enough to use magic). They produce so much mana in fact that being around a dragon is enough to take in that mana and become sustained by it. Prolonged exposure could lead to having a creature's mana production start to produce mana similar to draconic mana and eventually produce mana just as pure as draconic mana. Killing a dragon and attempting to absorb its soul is a deadly but fast way to become draconic. Finally, children born from draconic parents are also inherently draconic but at a fraction (or fully draconic if both parents are).

History

During the Dragon's Reign in Great Eethill, hundreds of people dedicated to the dragons became draconic. When the dragons were defeated their draconic servants remained and were preparing to resurrect and free their masters, causing Vuruesis to start the Vuruesian Crusade to eliminate active groups supporting the dragons.
