Free Trade Company

Current Status

The Free Company or Free Trade Company is a now-defunct old pirate crew. The Free Company was the first pirate crew Jerard DeSirrus led and was taken out by the Blackhull crew.

History

The history of the Free Trade Company is deeply intertwined with the history of piracy and trade in Azeroth. The company was founded in year 7 by Maximus Perry, a former privateer who had grown tired of serving under various pirate lords and decided to establish his own organization.   The Free Trade Company quickly rose to prominence, establishing trade routes and alliances with various nations and factions. They became known as a neutral party in the ongoing conflicts and wars of Azeroth, providing services and goods to anyone willing to pay.   However, their neutrality did not last forever. In year 14, the Lordaeron Navy captured and accused prisoners from the Free Trade Company of committing acts of piracy and treason against the Grand Alliance of Lordaeron. Among those executed was Jessica Perry, Maximus Perry's daughter.   This event marked the beginning of the end for the Free Trade Company. In year 18, a band of mercenaries took over the company after the execution of Maximus Perry, and the company split into two factions. Jerard DeSirrus took over the Trade and fleet of the Free Trade Company, taking its assets to the Blackwater Raiders, while Calson Turpin took over the company offices in Gilneas and Lordaeron.   The Free Trade Company continued to struggle for survival, facing attacks from various factions, including the Blackwater Company. In year 22, Calson Turpin was executed by Jerard DeSirrus, and the remaining members of the Free Trade Company went into hiding or were killed by the scourging of Lordaeron.   Despite its downfall, the Free Trade Company left a lasting impact on the world of Azeroth, with its legacy continuing to influence trade and commerce in the years to come.
