Sorceress Elsie Dark Sun (a.k.a. Eclipse)

The Sorceress known as Eclipse is known by most who even dare venture into the outer wilds of the Bladelands. Her studies, and search for knowledge, has led to her writing several books and tomes, though most are on magic, there are many that also focus on the characteristics of the Bladelands, and the creatures that inhabit them. Though, to many, she is as enigmatic as the moon spirit, as her presence is rarely known until long after she leaves. It is not believed she has any affiliation with any kingdom or empire, due to her keen attitude when it comes to any who have worked with her. But it is believed she has experience with royalty, as she also often gets intertwined with politics as an advisor to rulers and diplomats. Some believe she uses the kingdoms' leaders to her own ends, gaining access to their libraries and audiences with whoever may be affiliated with magic. Some believe her intentions are pure, and she actually works for the kingdom's prosperity, and is given sacred knowledge as a gift. Either way, it is known that she is never welcomed back into these kingdoms, as the sacred knowledge she was entrusted with quickly becomes public. On the bright side, she does give credit to whichever kingdom she learned from.
The name Eclipse is believed to be an alias of sorts.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Eclipse is a fit, well fed woman. Though not particularly strong, her speed and natural gift for magic make her an ideal sorceress.

Body Features

Eclipse is short is stature, but tall in stance, giving off a "royal" vibe that allows her to easily integrate herself with kings and peasants alike. Her skin is fair, however is spotted with magical residue, taking similar forms to birthmarks. That being said, it doesn't weaken her in any manner, and actually gives her a glow many would find Enchanting. The scar loving Ruzic even recognize the residue as battle-scars, giving her a status higher than any other non-Ruzic as Spell-Advisor for the four mega-tribes. Her hair, long wavy and purple, is believed to be her natural hair color and type. And her violet eyes only promised her talent in magic, as those born with that specific pigment who have natural talent with magic.

Mental characteristics

Education

It is believed her journey in knowledge seeking began in the Jade Kingdom, but that is only because the Jade Kingdom is the Magic City and it is where her first written tome of magical studies was published. it is more likely her journey began in the Garnet Kingdom of the Icy Jaw, where the restrictions on magic were more, in a sense, free. A land where no magic is restricted, not even necrotic or void magic, which is often associated with corruption and evil. From The Garnet Kingdom, Eclipse would've learned how to harness wild magic of all types, earning her the title of Sorceress. However, the base magic teachings weren't enough, and it is believed she traveled to the Jade Kingdom soon after at the age of fourteen or less.
In the Jade Kingdom, she'd learn of soul magic, which, before her arrival, was a magic known only to the elite of the kingdom. The trusting royals taught the promising sorceress how to use Soul Magic, even teaching her numerous forbidden arts should her hand be forced. A year later, a book about the cryptic magic surfaced all over the Bladelands, but by then Eclipse was gone.
From there, in no known order, she learned how to Enchant from the Magi, then the Water Ruzic, she learned how to tailor from the Air Ruzic, How to use Moon magic from the Night Hunters, fought a primordial dragon and won, learned several different magical arts and styles from numerous spellcasters among most cultures, and even began learning about the Divines and Wild Gods from the numerous tribes

Employment

Eclipse is known to take partial employment as a political advisor, typically suggesting reforms to laws on magic to allow more freedom of spell casting. though her efforts only bare small fruit, it's enough for her books, studies, and tomes to be published to some sort of library within the city. To smaller, less political oriented organizations, she's known to act as a teacher, teacher's assistant, caretaker, and sometimes even works alongside war parties in their conquests. This behavior isn't often looked to fondly, as she's known to work alongside raiders, bandits, pirates, even tyrants, all in an effort to procure knowledge, magic, and, above all, understanding.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Eclipse is a well known name, and that's not something that happens in the Bladelands through books alone. Her magical strength alone is enough to wipe out raiding parties alone. Though, her most famous fights are ones mere travelers can only slightly fathom. Her first ever life or death duel was against the dark sorceress, Nazee. The duel was thought to be a stalemate, as their battle raged for three straight days on Shimmer Grass Isle, twisting the landscapes as the intensity of their magics became infused with the plant and animal life in the area. No one knows how the battle ended, as the villages evacuated to the hospitality of the Lunan tribes north of the isle. What is known is that the villagers came back to a completely different land, and that both participating sorceress' survived the encounter. The land is now known as SpellBreak Marsh
But the event that truly brought recognition to her name was her battle with the Primordial Blue dragon; Veklagish, as she was attempting to make land at the BrightPlains. The battle was on seas, the domain of the blue primordial dragons, and was sparked when the draconic ambushed her vessel. Unlike the previous battle, this one had witnesses in the crew of the ship. The broken rocks, and the whirlpools that surrounded the southern waters of the island are mere remnants of the battle.
And it is believed that only more battles, such as these two, await her.

Failures & Embarrassments

She is not without her losses, however. Early in her career she was defeated by a Spellblade, attempting to retrieve magical tomes she had stolen from the Jade Kingdom. She only survived because of a teleport scroll gifted to her by the Magi. And her career as a traveler has been impeded time and time again by forces beyond her control, like politics. Such as the case where she was imprisoned by the Steel Scale Kingdom for casting a minor fire spell, as spellcasting is completely illegal without special permissions. It should be noted that at the time she was advising a Steel Scale Sorcerer in his studies, who quickly had her released.

Mental Trauma

Though no one knows her specific point of origin, it is known she came from the Icy Jaw, as it is referred to as her birthplace in A Study On Fae. And, in the study, she references a time she became a prisoner to Mountain Raiders, and was forced to march across the frozen cliffs and valleys during the most brutal season, The Deep Chill. She recounts other prisoners, much older and sturdier, dropping dead around her from malnutrition, Dehydration, hypothermia, or even expended willpower. This lasted for two seasons, before she was rescued by Fae.
Despite the event never being mentioned again in any other document, it is believed this was deeply traumatic for her, as the strange wanderer has never sense returned to the Icy Jaw since leaving.

Morality & Philosophy

Eclipse seeks the freedom of knowledge, specifically on the knowledge of magic and the strange laws of the Bladelands through published studies conducted by herself. And her methods are as pure as they can be until that no longer suffices. Her first tactics involve getting politically involved with a kingdom until getting into a position where she can begin making reforms. If a kingdom is stubborn on their magic laws, she publishes her studies illegally, typically with black markets, passing traders, or even handing copies of them out discreetly.

Taboos

Eclipse considers the hoarding of knowledge cruel and evil, and despises those who keep it a secret. Even if that knowledge could result in using dark magic, or the worship of a nasty Wild God, Eclipse still thinks that the people should have the freedom to make those choices. Though it isn't known if she dislikes the class system, it is noted she's much warmer and kinder to the less fortunate, and puts on a cold, uncaring persona around the elite and royals.
