Concordian Army

Overview

The Concordian Army is the primary military force of the Holy Empire of Concordia, structured into seven distinct legions, each commanded by a Cardinal of the High Temple . This formidable military institution is renowned for its strict hierarchy and exceptional organization, blending martial prowess with mystical expertise. The leadership within the army, comprising strategists, generals, and mages, are all rigorously trained in various aspects of warfare at the High Temple. This blend of academic and practical military training has made the Concordian Army one of the most efficient and disciplined forces in the known world.

Structure and Command

At the helm of the Concordian Army are the Cardinals, each assigned to a specific legion. These high-ranking officers serve as the spiritual and tactical leaders of their respective units, ensuring that both military strategy and the empire's theological principles are upheld. Below the Cardinals, the army is staffed by a cadre of officers who have demonstrated exceptional skill and intelligence, often having studied extensively at the High Temple. These officers are responsible for the implementation of strategy on the battlefield and the maintenance of discipline within the ranks.

The Seven Legions

- Concordian 1st legion:

Known as the "Perfect Legion," the 1st Legion is celebrated for its offensive strength and tactical brilliance. Under the command of Cardinal Leautis , the legion played a a crucial role in the destruction of the Aasimar kingdom of Zarell and was pivotal in the War of the North against the orcish hordes of Xago . The disappearance of its Cardinal during the final battle in the lands of Amaglad led to the legion's eventual disbandment.

- Concordian 2nd legion :

The 2nd Legion, led by Cardinal Rahab , is infamous for its ruthless approach, often referred to as the empire's blunt instrument. This legion eradicated the Kingdom of Zeyang and is known for taking no prisoners. Despite their ferocity, they faced setbacks during the 1st and 4th Plain wars . Due to their excessively high casualty rates and brutal methods, the 2nd Legion has been withheld from full deployment in recent years.

-Concordian 3rd legion :

Commanded by Cardinal Loxus , the 3rd Legion specializes in siege warfare. They are experts at breaking through fortified positions and are often deployed in campaigns requiring extensive siege tactics. Their expertise makes them a crucial asset in battles against heavily defended enemies.

-Concordian 4th Legion :

The smallest of the legions, the 4th is led by Cardinal Castex . This legion is often tasked with managing smaller conflicts and border disputes, utilizing their size for rapid deployment and flexibility. Their agility allows them to respond quickly to emerging threats and secure Concordia's borders.

-Concordian 5th Legion:

Known for their resilience, the 5th Legion is under the leadership of Cardinal Inaris . This legion is adept at enduring prolonged engagements, wearing down enemies through relentless pressure. They are currently stationed on Agritt Island, maintaining a strong garrison presence and securing the island's strategic value.

-Concordian 6th legion :

Led by Cardinal Heskal , the 6th Legion is renowned for its innovative battle strategies, similar to the tactical prowess of the 1st Legion. They were instrumental in the campaigns against the druids of Amaglad , employing creative and effective tactics to secure victory in challenging circumstances.

-Concordian 7th Legion:

The 7th Legion, commanded by Cardinal Clovis , operates in secrecy, specializing in underhanded tactics and espionage. This legion focuses on intelligence gathering and covert operations, often destabilizing enemies from within before a conflict erupts. Their clandestine activities make them a key component of Concordia's strategic depth.
These legions collectively form the backbone of Concordia's military might, each bringing unique strengths and capabilities to the empire's expansionist endeavors.
