Overview

Rayla Aldermoon was a renowned genius of House Aldermoon  and a key member of the Trinity of Quel'Lutaan , a trio of elves instrumental in defending the city of Quel'Lutaan  during its catastrophic siege by the Devils of the Hellish Plains. Known for her exceptional intelligence and pioneering work in glyph technology, Rayla was a pivotal figure in the defense and preservation of her beloved city.

Appearance and Background

Rayla Aldermoon was of slim build, with long, flowing midnight blue hair. As with all members of House Aldermoon, a distinctive gemstone adorned her "third eye" — in her case, a richly hued amber stone. This gemstone was not only a symbol of her house but also a mark of her profound connection to the arcane arts.
Rayla was the twin sister of the head of House Aldermoon. While her brother managed the day-to-day affairs and political responsibilities of the house, Rayla preferred to stay out of the limelight, devoting her time to her scholarly pursuits. She spent countless hours tinkering in her private studio and poring over the extensive libraries of her family estate, driven by a relentless thirst for knowledge and innovation.

Contributions to Glyph Technology

Rayla was a leading figure in the development of glyph technology within Quel’Luttan, a sophisticated form of magical engineering that had become integral to the city’s infrastructure. Her groundbreaking work laid the foundation for much of the city’s magical defenses and day-to-day operations, from automated constructs to enchanted wards that protected the city’s inhabitants.
During the attack on Quel’Luttan by demonic forces, Rayla’s expertise became invaluable. She played a critical role in fortifying the city’s defenses, using her deep understanding of magical glyphs to repel the demonic incursions. Her ability to adapt and enhance these glyphs on the fly allowed the city to withstand assaults that would have otherwise overwhelmed its defenses.

Role in the Defense of Quel’Luttan

When the devils, led by Valdor Rask, Borzan The Cursmith, and Kral, launched their devastating attack on Quel’Luttan, Rayla was at the forefront of the city’s defense efforts. Her analytical mind and deep knowledge of arcane mechanics proved crucial in countering the dark magic and curses deployed by the invaders. It was Rayla who managed to decipher the complex magical curse placed by Borzan, a sinister enchantment designed to spread chaos and destruction from Quel into its twin city, Lutaan. By understanding and unraveling this curse, Rayla was able to prevent it from spreading, thus protecting Lutaan from a similar fate.

The Final Stand and Legacy

Despite their best efforts, the situation in Quel’Luttan grew dire as the devils continued their relentless assault. Rayla, alongside her companions in the Trinity of Quel’Luttan—Hassath Molgaren  and Lien-Shun Pyrae —led the defense of the city in its final hours. They fought valiantly to protect their home, rallying the remaining defenders and using every ounce of their skill and strength to hold back the infernal tide.

In the end, the Trinity made their final stand at the city’s planar portal, the gateway that connected Quel to its twin city, Lutaan. Their goal was to sever the portal, preventing the devils from passing through and saving Lutaan from destruction. Rayla’s last act of heroism was to ensure the portal’s closure, a feat that ultimately saved many lives but cost her own. She died alongside her comrades, defending Quel to the very end.
