Amaglad Campaign

Military: War

266-270ca

The Amalgard Campaign was a fierce and grueling conflict between the Concordian Empire and the druidic tribes of Amalgard. Known for their deep connection to nature and formidable magical abilities, the druids mounted a vigorous defense of their homeland. However, the relentless Concordian military machine, leveraging the unique strengths of its diverse legions, ultimately prevailed, though at great cost.

Timeline of the Conflict

Initial Engagements and Early Setbacks

The campaign began with the deployment of the 6th Legion, renowned for their strategic prowess and elaborate battle strategies. Despite their initial confidence, the 6th Legion found themselves outmatched by the druids' intimate knowledge of the terrain and powerful nature magic. After a series of unsuccessful engagements, it became clear that additional support was needed.

Arrival of the 1st Legion

The High Temple deployed the 1st Legion, considered the perfect legion due to their discipline and strategic expertise, to support the 6th Legion. Together, the legions launched a coordinated campaign against the druids, engaging in a long series of battles. The combined might of the 1st and 6th Legions began to turn the tide, slowly pushing the druidic forces back through relentless and strategic assaults.

Climactic Battles and a Mysterious Disappearance

As the campaign reached its climax, the Concordian legions mounted a final offensive to break the last strongholds of the druids. The decisive battle saw the druids' defenses shattered and their forces scattered. Just before their defeat, the druid circle called the Eine Lingrah  cursed their lands, erecting arch-trees that raised the dead. The lands of Lingrah  are still cursed to this day. During this critical engagement, the Cardinal of the 1st Legion mysteriously disappeared. Despite extensive searches, no trace of the Cardinal was ever found, leading to speculation and rumors about his fate.

Aftermath and Disbandment of the 1st Legion

The victory over the druidic tribes of Amalgard was bittersweet. With the disappearance of their leader and the subsequent investigation revealing potential internal conflicts, the High Temple decided to disband the 1st Legion. The remaining druids were subdued, and the lands of Amalgard, scarred by the conflict, were absorbed into the Concordian Empire. The lands of Amalgard were renamed the Condemned Pass, with the scars from the druids' magic still visible on the land. The disbandment of the 1st Legion marked a significant moment in the empire's history, signifying both a victory and a profound loss.   The Amalgard Campaign stands as a testament to the complexity and cost of the Concordian Empire's expansion, highlighting the sacrifices made and the mysterious events that can alter the course of even the most disciplined and strategic forces.
