Argus Panoptes

Divine Rank: Deity
Alternate Names: The Watcher, The great Oracle, Argus All-Eyes

Primary Authority: Vision

Secondary Authorities: Eyes, Oracles, History, Wisdom

Description:

Argus Panoptes is a deity of Insight, vision and Foresight. He sees far and sees much, but is not hasty in his spreading of knowledge.
Argus can be found by those who seek him and his agents and offers advice for those that need it. He is also known to make predictions and prophecies, some of which are merely guesses, others are divinations from the Future. Argus does not tell which are which, however.
Argus is known for a prophesy he gave to the Ravil Empire, predicting the nation would once again unify under a strong ruler and conquer Haven.
The Great Seer has largely retreated to his domain in the Spirit World.

He is a member of the Pantheon of Haven.

Followers:

Argus is a deity for those that wish to divine knowledge of the future or the past, not for personal gain but simply out of curiosity.
Thus he is a deity of scribes, historians and oracles.

There are several monastaries and temples, headed by oracles throughout Haven, with those that seek answers of the future pining for their attention and showering them with gifts.

Clerical mandates:

Vow of Poverty
No unnecessary riches. No houses, no jewelry, no gold or gems unless it is to venerate the gods. if money is necessary to achieve a greater purpose, so be it, but never is material wealth the goal.
Vow of Chastity
Spouses, children and the pleasures of the flesh may bring uncertainty or temptation into the heart of the hammer of the gods. Clerics are thus not allowed, and a cleric is expected to remain chaste.
Vow of Honor
Clerics are expected to behave themselves with honor. To keep their promises, to accept surrender from their enemies, to stand for the values of their god, until death if necessary.
Mandate of Distance
Clergy of Argus are observers, not actors. Their role is not to change history but to document such. To perhaps give advice or aid but never to take center stage.
Appearance:
Argus panoptes is often depicted as a wizened old man, often with additional eyes to represent his wisdom and foresight.
