The Pucraele Unification Wars

In response to the rising military power of Gallica and Ravil, the disorganized raids of Pucraele were no longer viable ways for the backwards nation to sustain itself in times of bad harvests or harsh winters.

Faced with this reality, Diarmuid McGill rallied his clan behind him and convince two other powerful clans, the Campbells and MacKinnons, to ally with him in order to unify the nation.
Some clans joined them through diplomacy, some were violently subjugated. By the end of it, Diarmuid was slain, though he went down in history as the unifier of a nation.

In the aftermath of the war, the 'core' of the original clans were established as noble families, very strongly inspired by the neighboring nation of Gallica. The nation remains largely divided, though the head of the major noble families can choose to come together in a council to vote one amongst them to become High-King in times of war or foreign relations.
