Bernardus
Abbot Bernadus Rorgonides (a.k.a. The Esteemed)
Proclaimed as a "living saint", almost as miraculous is the diplomatic skill and wisdom of the Abbot of Saint Michael's Mountain.
Bernadus displayed his remarkable foresight, or perhaps fortune, when negotiating the marriage of his niece Rum to the youngest son of Nominoë, though the Breton was in open war with the Frankish king.
During decades of coastal raiding by opportunistic sea-reavers (both Norse and Breton), the monastery atop the Mount has thus far remained unmolested. Whilst often terse with outsiders and his brother monks, Bernadus holds a deep love of learning and the written word, and maintains a sizeable library.
