Carnac
Near the village of Carnac stand more than 3,000 prehistoric standing stones hewn from local granite consisting of rows, dolmens, burial mounds and single menhirs.
Those attuned to the Old Ways can feel the very air crackle with strange energy.
History
A Christian myth associated with the stones held that they were pagan soldiers in pursuit of Pope Cornelius when he turned them to stone.
Local tradition claims that the reason they stand in such perfectly straight lines is that they are a Roman legion turned to stone by Merlin.
A very few scholars hold that the stones were raised by ancient Elves to harness their magic for their wars against Men.
