Torvin is happy to relate to his patrons that he originally came to Vandel to prospect, "to dig his fortune from the very land itself" he may say in his gregarious manner whilst drinking heartily at his own stock of cider by his hearth. He soon came to realise he knew more about innkeeping than mining and stayed ever since. Most nod and smile whilst enjoying the warmth of the old man's hospitality, few fail to notice the well crafted Dane axe, never far from Torvin's reach. He and his wife Tófa run the inn which they perhaps will leave one day to their granddaughter, Eydís.
