Glory Fernworthy

Artist

Created and played by Wendy O'Mahoney
Glory is an ex-Anchorite, an artist, fairly new to the island. She's currently working with Grannie on a mural that can be painted on the back wall of the island's only Inn as an attempt to calm the storms that have been battering the island by appeasing The Fae.   So, Glory Fern where they had a crazy upbringing with slightly strange parents who were always being activists, and they'd spent time in communes and things.   And it didn't really go well for glory.   And in the end, her escape route was becoming hyper religious and ending up in a sort of convent.   And then it just went more and more, she became more and more extreme, some leftover from a parent, no doubt, and ended up becoming an Anchorite, which is when you get walled up in a room, and this was on the mainland, not that far from this island, where she finds herself now.   But she started to go a bit doolally there, and frankly, lost her faith and demanded to be released, which she was, and then she just jumped on board the first ferry that she could get on, and has ended up on this island.   She is about 65. And she's just had all her hair cut off to quite short, because it had grown and grown in the, in the room where she was imbued. And it's very grey, and she didn't like long grey hair had a bit of a thing about it. So she's had it all cut off to chin length, and is feeling very lightheaded about everything, and is keen to keep going with her art.   She had demanded smart materials while she was in the the walled up place and that had kept herself entertained. Instead of talking to God. She just told stories on her walls. And one day when people find that it's going to be really interesting, because it's not what you'd expect from a nun.   Anyway, she is keen to be part of a community. It's what she has known, but she's also slightly afraid of being too involved. And although she's quite happy to help, granny, whatever her name was, with the mural and with the children because children are easy to easier to navigate than, than grownups, they're more honest. You know, she might limit her contact, except when she really needs to. She's loving walking around around the island. It's not that big.   She's loving the sound of the sea and the goals and it's very bracing because it was quite stuffy in her funny little room where she used to be. So yeah, she's pleased to be there.   Parents are both dead now, by the way, and she's tall.   She's tall and rangy with this rough cut short grey hair. And she has really enjoying dressing in colour. Because when she was an Anchorite she really just wore black and just she know what has come out of the shadows and wants to be more shiny and colourful because nature is shiny and colourful. And a favourite jumper reminds her of a cloud and her favourite long skirt reminds her of waving grass with Heather because it's green and purple. And she likes to spend quite a lot of time barefoot on the earth, as well.
