The Barren Reaches

Beyond the triple star frontier plane defined by Mandela, Idris and Aspiration lies that volume of space known to some as the Barren Reaches and to others (with more irony than accuracy) as the Interregnum Empire. Amongst the sparsely populated systems of the region, Thinderin and Werm colonies predominate, with a scattering of Human settlements washed beyond the high tide of the Great Push after the Bubble burst. The ‘Empire’ is littered with ancient Cold Orbiter ruins and lines of CESPI on a score of worlds. More than one of the CESPI claim links with the Cold Orbiters and share similar sad legends of the restoration of Empire. It is this which gives the region its second name.
