The London Grumble
The London Grumble was an uprising in the Disney City of London which began when the Tower of London was seized on April 23rd 2526 CE by a group of activists demanding better pay and conditions. It rapidly escalated into a series of wildcat strikes and acts of civil disobedience which the BEA failed to quell.
The Conflict
Outcome
The Grumble was brought to an end on 11th May, just a few short days after it began when the King of Earth stepped in to reinforce the BEA. In what was widely seen as a shocking atrocity, Traflagar Square and Camden Lock were simultaneously bombed with plastolithite foam gel, killing the leaders of the movement and a significant proportion of the protesters gathered at two demonstrations and permanently entombing these famous old tourist areas in a mountain of rock hard polymers.
After the rebellion was quashed, the demands of the protesters were ignored. Within government, the Bureau of Economic Affairs was held responsible for their mismanagement of the Disney Cities and London in particular, but by deflecting the blame onto the head of the security division, Janson Eltte, the bureau chief, Mohamed Janjua, was able to retain his post and even increase his control over the organisation. Nevertheless the BEA was weakened at the expense of the BXR. The Queen of Earth increased her own influence by at least appearing to oppose the actions of the King.
Aftermath
The London Grumble was a disaster for its leaders and supporters but it came at a time when the authority of the Resource Management World Government was being questioned not only on Earth but throughout the Solar Group. Most historians consider that the reaction to the end of the London Grumble was an important factor in changing the climate of public opinion in the years leading up to the insurrection of 2533 CE and the eventual downfall of the 4th dynasty.
