Harak Das

The eternal struggle; Eran, yearning to create and expand, locked in conflict with Harak Das, yearning to degrade and destroy.
-a statement from an Eranic text detailing the relationship between Eran and Harak Das
Harak Das is the name given to one of the two deities in the faith of Eranic Duality. It is the god of destruction, degeneration and death, and is seen as the mortal foe of Eran, the god of creation, renewal and life.   The Eranic faith holds that prior to the creation of the universe, there was simply an endless void. The universe was given form by a divine spark that appeared in the void one day, and the ensuing ripples tore the void apart, giving rise to the two great deities; Eran, representing the spark of creation and the need to design, revitalise and create, filling in the void, and Harak Das, representing the primordial void and the drive to destroy all that Eran has created, attempting to return the universe to its state prior to the rupturing of the void.   As an Eranic deity, Harak Das is commonly ackowledged among the people of the Free City of Kas, along with the Sekoran diaspora, and presumably the other unseen kingdoms of Sembar.

Divine Domains

Harak Das appears to have three main domains; all of which are interconnected. It represents death, degeneration and destruction; the three processes that contribute towards annihilation itself.

Artifacts

There are no artifacts of Harak Das - on the contrary, the act of creating something on its behalf or for it is considered a blasphemy and a surefire way to attract the god's attention.

Tenets of Faith

"There are two types of people who worship Harak Das; psuedo-rebellious edgy morons that care more about image than any actual divine belief, and complete lunatics bent on nothing less than the destruction of everyone and everything, including themselves." -a Kasite when asked about cults of Harak Das
Most Eranics do not worship Harak Das so much as attempt to pacify it and stave it off. Das demands no service and has no tenets for humanity; in the end all it requires is that they be destroyed.   A common belief among Eranics is that praising or holding ceremonies in Das' honour only succeeds in gaining its attention and potentially bringing its destructive force to bear on them. The few legitimate cultists of Das therefore regularly do exactly this, hoping to catch its attention and unleash more destruction.   Generally, cultists of Das are either horrifically insane or in some cases, foolish attempts at rebellion and bravado. The latter usually tend to 'grow out of it', while the former, while extremely dangerous and unstable, are too few to constitute a real threat.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Harak Das' goals are extremely simple; it is driven by a need to destroy everything and everyone in the universe. It does not care about power, lordship or dominion, nor does it show malice or demand servitude; it simply unleashes curses, disasters and disease regardless.   Its one other goal is to overpower and destroy its counterpart Eran. Were it to ever do this, Eranics believe the process of creation would halt, and nothing would be able to stop Das destroying the universe.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Harak Das does not have a physical form as understood by most of the mortal world- it simply does not appear there, and for that reason there is not a physical form to describe.   In the rare cases that it is depicted in artwork, it is usually as a column of shadow, normally as a contrast of the pillar of light Eran is often depicted as.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Like its counterpart, Harak Das has no gender or sex; such concepts do not apply to it.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

"I suppose it's easy to consider Das a monster; it embodies the end of everything after all. But it doesn't seen to do so out of spite or malice from the tales, it just... has to."
-a philosopher of comparative theology at the University of Kas
Despite the obvious fears most Eranics have of Harak Das, and despite thr traditional depiction of it as a malevolent, evil creature, there is no malice in Harak Das' approach; indeed, it does not hold any personal animus towards Eran or any real emotions or opinions at all. It seems to simply be driven by a need to destroy, seeming to believe this is the only way to restore the void prior to the universe's creation. Overall it appears to be more of an automaton or force of nature than a sentient being; albeit one with a singular goal it will pursue relentlessly at all costs.
