Lycanthropy

An ancient curse that causes the host to become a feral shapechanger. Lycanthropy can take many forms but the most common types of bestial transformation are werewolves, wererats, werebears, wereboars and even weretigers. Those under the effect of this curse often loose control and find themselves changing form without meaning too, causing their kind to be feared and vilified. There are those who try and fight the curse, some even lifetimes trying to control it. Sadly, the curse always wins and those afflicted eventually succumb to their predatory nature

Causes

One can gain the curse through many means. Powerful Fey creatures can apply the curse to people that either irritate them or sometimes do it as a sick joke. Lycanthropy is also genetic and is often passed down from parents if they were afflicted by the curse. The final method of transmission is through contact with another lycanthrope. If bitten or scratched, there is a chance that the curse is spread onto the victim. However, those that fight a lycanthrope rarely survive the encounter.

Symptoms

Those under the effect of the curse will notice their predatory senses are raised, general increase in strength and stamina, as well as bestial desire to hunt. This desire often grows to strong causing the host to transform into a terrifying beast-hybrid that unusually looses all of their old humanity. This transformation can sometimes only last an hour or can even be permanent, it all depends on how much control the host has over the condition.
