The Chrestomath

The Chrestomath is a prominent title that exists in several facets of the communities found in the Framework of the Castraversi, seemingly known by both the many Ara and the Ars simultaneously. The issue starts to arise when the title needs to be placed onto a person. At that point it starts to get fuzzy, and the facts and the details tend to blend with each other and get mixed up with rumor and often myth.   This is the trouble with the individual(s) who can be associated with this title. Is the Chrestomath really a person, a vague construct, or just the result of a thousand tales told over time? No one is able to find out entirely the truth behind the matter. But the reality is that the Chrestomath is a prominent force in society, found as an inspiring cause for The Barakutáshi as well as the various members of the Ars military factions ran by the Graf Xlibris.   Some say the person who can be identified as the Chrestomath is no better than a puppetmaster, the cause of much suffering the world has experienced at this point because of the ubiquity the title comes with. Others say the Chrestomath is a great sage, the arbiter of knowledge and great wisdom of the truth of the Yirim and all that it represents to the denizens of the many Frameworks.   The one easily traceable truth of the Chrestomath is that this title is associated with The Chimu, a powerful symbology that renders material to its base components and grants a wielder the ability to reconstruct those base materials into a new form. The Chimu in active use creates an enormous concern for the Ars, as their desire to maintain control on an active reality construct is challenged if a ritual can render their efforts inert upon contact and sufficient will.   There seems to be a game that the Chrestomath is willing to play, the name showing up in the major players of the results of who will retain control over the Castraversi, the Ara who have lived there all their lives? Or the Ars who are in need of the resources in plenty found in the many Forms accessible to their transports? It's undetermined where the Chrestomath stands in the line drawn between these two desires, though the adherents to the principles taught by the bearer of this title say the Chrestomath is nothing more than an observer of ongoing events, rather than a player. Someone more a referee instead of a leader.   The thing that makes the Chrestomath stand out is however something plays out, they seem to have a greater awareness of the results rather than the causes, and tend to lean aggressively toward getting certain events to happen to result in a preordained path only they seem privy too. Like a playwright their hand is what guides events forward, but only does it seem now that they're on the side of heroics, but for how long, only they can tell.
