Bugbears

Bugbears are one of the goblinoid races designed by Arcane Geneticists to work as slaves, rumoured to have been made by synthesising bears with regular goblins. They are sterile and cannot have children, so all existing bugbears were made in laboratories. Most bugbears are used as soldiers and bodyguards because they are so physically imposing, sometimes over seven feet tall. They are relatively rare, as they are expensive to produce and have a reputation amongst slave-holders of being difficult to control.
Bugbears are covered in fur, with long, pointed ears, clawed paws, and sharp, bear-like teeth. They are exclusively carnivorous and are very rarely freed, as popular opinion holds that they are extremely dangerous. 
Like other slave-races, Bugbear names are descriptive and reflect the qualities that are considered to make them valuable. More poetic owners may name a bugbear something such as 'Thunder-tears-the-sky,' but names like 'Big-Teeth,' 'Sharp-Claw' or even 'Hairy' are just as common.
