Sixth Province

Sixth Province is the northernmost land province of the Empire, with a coast on the Shroudsea. An vast and empty tundra, it was largely uninhabited upon its colonisation apart from a few isolated human villages. Most Celestial investment goes to the rich oil-fields in its western areas, to which much slave labour is sent. The province also has significant deposits of ores and coal. Its small capital was built by the empire and is home mostly to those who work at the mines or at refineries. The harsh climate makes it a particularly difficult place to live, and many who remain there are Shroudland refugees, used to the frigid temperatures and long winters.
Team Ten spent their second round of the Gauntlet in Sixth Province, where they met Governor Lau, who explained the province was critically underfunded. They also witnessed first-hand the realities of Arctic winter and encountered the Kai-Shin, a magical, backwards-flowing river that never froze. Deprivation was rife, and Imperial fracking had been polluting much of the Shroudsea.
