Church of the Rising Shoot

The Church of the Rising Shoot is a small religious sect centered around the prophet Unari Dama, who preaches the lessons of the Shoot from his monastery deep within the jungles of Castrovel.
While rare outside its origin planet, the church claims that have members in every system in the known galaxy -- which has been verified in seven independent scholarly surveys. When asked for further details about the religion, newcomers are handed a small pot of earthen material, which will slowly produce a species of bamboo. Eventually, curious individuals find themselves on pilgrimage to Castrovel, to see the origin of the strange shoot, and to (supposedly) gain wisdom from its prophet.
