On Mountain High
Once again, the dream revisits Golarion, hovering over the city of Absalom. But instead of heading north, this time we venture east, to the towering cliffs adjacent the city, where Starwatch Keep stands as a bastion against tyranny. It has seen great repair since we last laid eyes upon it, a towering lighthouse now fully complete, with walls solidified, and a soft fire belching smoke from the kitchens. But we do not head inside.
Instead, we move further east, through the ruins of the once-great fortress, to a graveyard weathered by time. Three new gravestones have joined them, although only one contains a body. Styx brushes dust from Yellenwen’s resting place, as Edwin does the same for Griswald.
Edwin: “Styx, can we go into town today?”
Styx furrows her brow, looking at the small boy with slight concern, fingers touching the tender wound at her side.
Styx: “I have errands. But I can drop you off at Vivian’s.”
The boy smiles, and rushes through the gravestones, eager to collect his things. Styx stands, brushing off her knees, and looks to the third gravestone. He never told them his real name, so the stone simply reads Faker. Styx shakes her head, and looks back to Starwatch Keep. A nightmare flashes before her eyes -- goblins surging over the walls, led by a woman with death on her lips.
Wendy.
The vision passes, and Styx looks more harshly at the keep, and then at Edwin’s back.
Styx: “Whatever cruel fate you plan for the boy… I mean to stop it.”
The dream fades.
