Season 2, Episode 6: "Carrot" Report

General Summary

The Dream Team finished searching the Breath of Embers, recovering a corrupted message from Tash -- who stole the ship from his masters -- warning of an upcoming invasion from a "General Khaim". A few pieces of evidence found among the bodies seemed to further this claim, but given the ship's unpacked, pristine status, there was little else to do but return the ship to Far Portal Station.   The scientists were overwhelmed with joy at seeing the ship, although Stationmaster Jori was displeased that the party had taken some of the items onboard. After a tense standoff, the party agreed to let her examine the items, which were eventually returned. Any attempts at future pleasantries were cut short when Far Portal suddenly fell out of its orbit, diving into Mataras and vanishing from view. A wave of psychic despair hit everyone nearby the sun, but Tesin saw further, receiving an ambiguous message from a spirit. He introduced himself as Carrot, and claimed that he and Tesin were about to be bonded. The missive ended before much else was said, but he claimed that the two would be seeing each other soon...   Desperate to inform the Burning Archipelago of the disaster, Taeress Suloro an aspiring scientist and engineer, begged the Dream Team to take them with her. They complied, and began the slow journey around the sun, contemplating the ramifications of what they'd seen. Upon arriving at Dawnshore, the party found a frayed society, with tense dock workers, and even a failed mugging by a Shirren that desperately wanted off of the Archipelago.   After hearing that the party was looking for Nib, who just happened to be Taeress' ex-wife, she decided to guide them to Asanatown. Unfortunately for the party, the psychic wave had reached the Lashunta bubble city well in advance of their arrival, and tensions had erupted into the streets. As they stepped off the train the line was taken over, and all transport in and out of Asanatown was blocked off. Zeylan Trinipol, leader of the Sunrise Collective, claimed to have taken over the city, and demanded that all non-Lashunta be isolated at a nearby checkpoint. Worse yet, Abelina spotted Shalema in her scans of the city's camera network, and it looked as if the two were working together.   Afraid for Nib's safety, but unwilling to let Shalema run free for long, the party decided to split. Taeress, Abelina, and Cornelius left to make a commotion at the checkpoint, while the rest of the Dream Team set a course for the Horizon House, the capitol building of Asanatown. They made some noise in the city, quelling riots and saving non-Lashuntan citizens from the violence, and discovered that the Sunrise Collective was being assisted by the Brass Dragons, a mercenary group headquartered in Corona.   Upon arrival, the group decided for a tactical approach, distracting some guards with red herrings while leaping over the walls, and heading straight for the central chamber. There they encountered Zeylan and his lieutenant, Chamas, working alongside the local leader of the Brass Dragons, Rej Vierna, and Shalema. While the latter was arguably the most powerful of the group, she seemed content to let Zeylan take the lead, which was ultimately his downfall. After a devastating blow from Tesin, Shalema suddenly melted into a mercurial liquid, claiming that her pupil was missing the bigger picture, and got distracted by the pretty lights...

Rewards Granted

The party gained a wealth of smaller items between Episodes 5 and 9, mostly equipment-based. As I am behind on episodes, I'll be focusing on major updates, likely listed at the end of Season 2.
