Villedezavier

This city sits at the heart of the Chattellian Barony , serving as its capital and home to the Baron of Chattelle . Founded more than a thousand years ago by Zavier Gustaire, a high ranking nobleman at the time, Villedezavier (also spelled Ville-de-zavier) has grown to be the second largest city in the Husterian Kingdom, the largest being the kingdom capital of Farbin .

Demographics

Being a center for trade amongst the Kingdom and the west, the denizens are comprised of a variety of backgrounds and classes, though humans remain the majority population (56%), with elves (in particular Solos elves) making up the second largest ethnic group(13%). Many Draconii that fled after the fall of the Felland migrated to the high walls of Villedezavier.
At the top are the nobles and bureaucrats in service to the baron who leads the city's management. The thriving tourism industry in Villedezavier has also attracted many wealthy nobles from outside the Kingdom to build elaborate vacation palaces. The heart of the city's economy belongs to the various merchants and craftsman living in the center of the city, along the river banks. While the merchants are from all over Unrehta, the craftsman tend to be locals of various guilds that have many branches within Villedezavier.

Architecture

There are three distinct styles of architecture present within the city. Many of the newest buildings surrounding the outskirts of the city and beyond the walls are of simple construction: log held in place with mortar and thatched roofing. This is typically the marker of the poorer citizens and those that farm the surrounding land. Within the walls, the height of the buildings shoots dramatically towards the sky. Multistory homes and structures of red brick steadily work their way towards the palace district. These structures are home to the city's many merchants, craftsman, diplomats, and artisans. Finally, at the very center of the city, are the many palaces that belong to various nobles and foreign dignitaries. Each constructed of a style unique to their owners origins. It is said that one could travel the whole world simply by walking down the roads of the palace district given the variety of cultures.

Geography

The city is founded at the edge of the foothills along the @Silberhan River, just a few miles before the river meets the ocean. The land is flat and mostly featureless, sitting well below the high mountain peaks that can be seen far to the north.
